It was first suggested that COVID-19 might have originated with Pangolins. I believe initially this was a joke to scare the Chinese from decimating the Pangolin population. However, it seems there is a definitive link between coronavirus found in bats and pangolins and COVID-19. Good news for Pangolins. Let's hope the Chinese who survived will think twice before purchasing any more Pangolin scales. Now if we can just create an illness linked to the use of Rhino horn... COVID-19 - Mother Nature's anti-poaching unit in action.

Won’t make much difference. Those creatures will eat anything! Watched a program on TV sometime ago where some were drinking fresh cobra blood! They hand the cobra from a stand, chop it’s head off and drain the blood into a container. The man just drinks it warm. He said it gave him youth! And by the looks of him, it did not work at all.

There is some good information here. I was doing some contract work in CAR back in the '80s, and we had cause to visit Institut Pasteur in Bangui on a regular basis. It was when HIV was becoming a big deal, and while it was mercifully before social media as we know it, the conspiracy theorists were in full cry about it's having been lab-engineered. Of course the doctors at the Institut could trace it back, in the primate population, to well before even gene-splicing technology had evolved. I have no doubt that COVID-19 is a naturally-occurring zoonotic virus. As for the exact intermediate pathways that led it to man, we may never know the whole journey. Bats, pangolins, and maybe a rat or two. I was suspicious of the motives behind the pangolin story when the "news" first broke. Perhaps it's true. But of course the rural Africans who poach pangolins, and the end-users who consume them probably don't read Forbes over breakfast, so the story would have been of very limited impact to those who matter most in the trade. Something an activist would think of.

You realize that this started in an Iranian lab by commie Chinese scientists and the had a major fuck up takin back to China. It is all on god damn Chinese commies and the radical Islamic pigs in Iran. I hope the inbred Iranian leaders try to approach a US Navy vessel in the open seas. I am sick of the pussification of the US by the biggest wimp ever in Obama. Obama was farce and a divider.

Please do not yell too loudly at me for being an alarmist. I had fried wild turkey last Sunday. I ask, What is keeping some human killing virus from incubating in Whitetail Deer, wild turkey, or elk. Hell, my family ate squirrel brains and neck bones. My thoughts are some great power is really keeping these curses at bay for now. What happens if CWD makes the jump? I think the situation in China with bats and other creatures being confined closely in these markets are more evidence we should not be feed lot farming wild game species.

Hate to break it to you but White Tail deer carry Anthrax... along with lots of other domestic animals and wildlife. In regards to CWD, I am afraid it and BSE have already crossed. Just visit the Political Crater for proof... ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

My father created the first killed corona vaccine for cattle. I think it was in the 80s. His company was called Grand Laboratories. Lots of different companies offer it now. I vaccinate every year for it.

I know they are a carrier for anthrax. So, it is basically whatever power you believe in, and, maybe, lack of concentration of game into confined space preventing viruses from ever mutating to beat the immune response that is keeping the death to humanity viruses from appearing in our game meat or commercial livestock. If that is the case, I feel our national epidemiology infrastructure is very weak. Forget, terrorist, we need to be trying to find and prevent the next virus. We may not be so lucky next time. Viruses not being a living organism, I can get my head around. My brain is not large enough to comprehend how a virus is initials formed to start corrupting host cells. What happens if the next virus blooms in our domestic pork industry? Said virus is not discovered until the masses have consumed and shipped all over the world.

Viruses are constantly mutating and eventually one mutation finds a vulnerability within a specific species and proliferates. What is interesting is viruses, specifically retroviruses, make up approximately 8% of the human genome. Without them we wouldn't exist as a species. In regards to identifying the next, that is impossible. We are only in a defensive posture. CV-19 is a pandemic on training wheels. When a real one hits, millions will will die. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.
