For some unknown reason, I can't get the follow-up videos to play.

good thing you didn't have to shoot during that last video clip- with your muzzle 12 inches from the PH's ear Frowner

Also - this is a prime example of how PH's can get shot - shortly after aiming at the cow (1 min 45 sec) the mauser flag safety is at 270 degrees and the firing pin cocked meaning it was loaded on fire and pointing at the PH from behind. This was OBVIOUSLY NOT INTENTIONAL but an example how quickly an accident can happen when in the thick stuff around DG with adrenalin pumping through the veins.

I am not taking a dig at the hunter but just pointing something out that might save another hunter tomorrow......

Cheers,
Brent

What a tragedy, prayers for the woman killed and her family. The sound of people mourning in the village was heart wrenchng.

Whilst the rifle seems to be held quite safely, It does in fact look like the SAFETY was in non safe position for most of the time.

The safety was off at that moment because we were about 10yds from the ele and expecting a charge.

I didn't see Blake preparing for a "Charge" with his rifle up and safety off. And he was in front of you!!

Blake actually seemed pretty relaxed and confidant- of course he didn't realize he had a muzzle 12 inches from his ear with the safety off..... is permanent deafness( absolutely guaranteed by a .458 GOING OFF IN YOUR EAR) caused by carelessness covered by a disability policies??

Is this guy on drugs or have a disability of some sort? He seems completely out of it during this consersation never making eye contact with the PH but looking off into la la land! Maybe he is just extremely shy, but in all the films he avoids eye contact most of the time. Just woundering!

No we didn`t.I`ll try and get the last part up.To shed some light on the story, from what I understood, there were about 5 ele in the crop field when the woman was killed. One ele split apart on its own when the herd was ``chased`` by the farmers and came back from about two hundred yards away to kill the woman. It was believed the woman had puncture wounds and therefore been gored. When we just started following the herd we heard 4 gunshots and the government group that was ahead of us killed a tuskless that charged them. When we came upon the herd in the video,I saw a young Bull(the first ele seen in the video),a female with a baby(the one on which I raise my rifle).Blake saw one or two ele tuskless in the back(not on video).I am not sure if Blake saw any more ele.Since the ele that killed the woman had tusks then it had to be either the mother or the young bull.Blake concluded that since it was unlikely that a mother will split from the herd without her baby to come back and kill the woman,it then must be the young bull. However this conclusion was reached after the bull dissapeared and made there way to Mozambique just before we were catching up to them again. We set after them with the intention of shooting the young bull but it was too late.

Too bad. Still an adventure .

I killed a young bull about 20 years ago under similar circumstances. I will never forget it.
