Don't want to steal any thunder, but the word is that Aaron Neilson just dropped 85+ pounds of ivory in Malapati. Cannot wait for the details.

Yes Jack, it is in fact true. Malapati and SSG Safaris has given me a once-in-a-lifetime trophy! Word travels fast, seeing how we shot it only about 27 hrs ago.

I am in Harare now, leaving for the states tomorrow. So I will try to do a full report this weekend. We shot this big boy only about 1 mile from the Malapati camp, at about 5pm yesterday evening. He's roughly 19" at the lip, and has 51" right tusk & 55" left tusk, out of the lip. Doing the math, it should put him around 84lbs? Nixon seems to think he's 80 - 85lbs, Phillip Smythe who was with us says 85lbs, and I'll just say he's big! The size of the nerve will obviously be the deciding factor.

He wasn't the only big tusker I saw, and he's not the only nice trophy we took. I'll post more asap.

Thanks,

Aaron Neilson

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Man, Hentie will make the hunt just as memorable as a trophy bull. Good luck, and you guys send me pics from camp if you can.

Thanks,
