I am looking for a rifle for plains game and Cape Buff. I know I want a .375 but I don't know about the rifle. The CZ looks good. Seems a lot of rifle for the money. Does anyone have direct experience with one and what do you think?

I have a BRNO 375 and a CZ 416 Rigby. I really like them both. You definitely get a lot of gun for your money. Dont think you can go wrong with the CZ.

JBD:

You may wish to do a search on the "Big Bore" forum and here on the CZ's...

I have three of the American Stock version a 375 H&H, 416 Riby, and 458 Lott. I currently have the 416 at a Gunsmith for some work to be done on it...so I have not shot it yet, however, the 375 I have is very accurate rifle.

The CZ's do represent good value..but there are a few things you may wish to consider doing...such as bedding and possibly a cross-bolt..there are other options you could consider..

I just had my 375 bedded and cross bolted. I used it in Tanzania this September took a Zebra and Heatebeast with it.. used my Lott for the Buffalo...but would have used the 375 if it was in my hands at the time...

I have had good experiences with the CZ's and I can tell you their customer service department is exceptional! I would not hesitate to purchase another CZ based upon my experience with them...

My only observation (I won't call it a criticism) is that they rattle. (Actually this happens with almost all CRF rifles using a .375 H&H based case) Fill the mag, then chamber a round, apply the safety and slowly tip it forward or backward from the horizontal and then back again. You'll hear a "donk" as the top round in the mag moves. As long as you're aware it's going to make the noise, you're cautious not to allow it to happen during the "final approach" on something big and ugly....... if you don't expect it then you can make an unwelcome noise when you don't want to.

I tend to think that at the end of the day, any off the shelf rifle will shoot more accurately and be more reliable than the guy behind it. (Obviously) within the parameters of you get what you pay for, they're a pretty good rifle..........and an awful lot of hunters buy them and use them with years of success and very little complaint.

.........so if you like it, buy it.

I really like my cz's and feel they are a well made rifle...I have a .375, .416 and a lott which was a .458 winnie.

I would get the .375 bedded and the lott I would add a cross bolt for and aft the mag box.
