Is there currently any special permits or requirements to import rug from Hartman's zebra into the US.My brother has asked me to aquire one for him and a taxidermist that I use has them listed on his pricelist but I thought I had heard that they were Cites listed.

Anyone have the lowdown on this?

eyedoc,

The law on Hartmans Zebra is that it is a cites animal. You may hunt it and with the proper cites permits bring the hide into the US. The only Hartmans zebra you may import is the one you shot.

You may not purchase a Hartman's zebra hide at the tannery and bring it home due to the cities designation. This is the same for all cites game, cats, primates etc... I have taken Hartmans zebra in Namibia and had to go through the process, no problem really if your ph/outfitter has the paperwork in order on their end.

Hope this helps,
BigBullet
