| Hint: To better relate to the Africans, both white and black, that you might meet, you might want to refrain from referring to Africa as "The Dark Continent". That old euphamism from the days prior to Western enlightenment would probably fall with either irritation or puzzlement on African ears.
Cant' say about the shark trip, but you'll have a blast in Namibia. It is to plains game hunting what Disneyland is to amusement parks. I'm hoping to return next year for more, myself. |

| Enjoy it. Take a journal and write it out a couple times a day. There is no better way to relive it in years to come. One of you should skip the cage. A way better story for the other guy. |

| I chartered with Chris Fallows at Seal Island after my 2007 Safari. It was great! We saw several White Pointers, but we were too late in the season to get boatside breaches. I did get to see one from the cage so that was neat. Hopefully you are early enough to get a breach. Who are you chartering with? |

| quote: Originally posted by Fishcarver: Next week at this time I will be on a plane heading to the dark continent for an adventure of a life time. My good friend and hunting buddy and I will be hunting Namibia for plains game. We will be first make a stop in Cape Town South Africa to go dive in a cage with the Great White Sharks. After watching Shark week this past week the butterflies in my stomach have gotten a little bit bigger. Still very excited none the less. After our dive we will be heading up to Namibia to begin our hunt. We will be going after Kudu, Gemsbock, Warthog, Zebra, Heartabeast, Impala to name a few. All the planning and pre packing have gone down to just a few days until it will be real. I have appreciated the stories that I have read here over the past few months from experienced AR members. If my trip is anything like yours It will be an adventure to remember forever. If there is any last minute advise that you have for me that would help my trip I'm all for your ideas. Stay tuned for a great report.
I do trust that your hunt in Namibia will get a good "home" and not be wasted if the Great White has a succesful hunt. |

| I'm sure that you will enjoy it. You did after all start correctly by some good trip planning! [See JSC271's signature's first line!] The stop in Cape Town will not only give you time to get over the time difference [if any] it will also give your body a good rest you from a long flight. That means that you have a very short flight from Cape Town to the start of your hunt in Namibia. The shark cage diving should be fun! Naturally a good hunting outfitter in Namibia can also let you have a very good time on a plains game hunt! Best of luck - you deserve good luck Andrew McLaren |

| Fishcarver, The best on your upcoming safari. Once you land in Africa do not take a nap. stay up till bed time then crash to get on the African clock. Oh yea, dont forget to close the door on the cage or someone else will do the carving. Make the shot, Mike Michael Podwika... DRSS bigbores and hunting www.pvt.co.za " MAKE THE SHOT " 450#2 Famars |

| Hindsight being what it is, I would tell you to consider having your hunt recorded on video. I wish now I had done that on all my hunts. Takes up less room and you get to relive the whole hunt and your kids aren't left with a bunch of stuff they don't want. PM me if you want more info on how to do this.

| Sounds like fun - everything except that part about the sharks, that is. Best of luck.

| Thank you for the nice encouragement and the good tips. Yes hopefully that shark doesn't get me before I get to hunt. I'm the skinny one of the pair so hopefully I don't have enough meat on me to be eaten. Hopefully this is the first of many times I will be able to go hunt Africa. Ive heard many times that it is very addictive. We will be hunting with Thormählen & Cochran. we have heard nothing but good things about this outfit. The Shark dive will be done with White Shark Projects. |

| We hunted with T&C a few years back. Peter is a nice guy and a lot of fun.
I second what someone else said about videoing the hunt. I had to do it again, I would video all of the hunts and have far fewer mounts. I would have saved a ton of money. |
