Hi Ann...

I know you girls are HOT.... but we need a thread with PICTURES to show just how HOT you chicks really are. Maybe some nice pics with African short shorts, with a camo styled halter top wouldn't be bad...

Oh and of course you carrying your favorite BIG BORE with some trophies laying at your feet...

So what do you say HOT ONES.... when are the PICS coming...

Regards... Jim P.

Hi Sevens:

Oops forgot, I kept ALL my backskins of everything I shot, especially of the Sable, Waterbuck & Giraffe.

I can't wait to see this shipping bill from Zimbabwe. I even took back the skull of my Giraffe.... this crate is going to be one heavy bugger...

Regards... Jim P.

Hi Sevens:

I am having him mounted on a pedestal mount, along side of a pedestal mount I am doing of my Kudu. I took 10 plains game on my last trip including the Giraffe. I think the Giraffe shoulder mount is going to be in excess of $5K... not to mention the custom table I am having made, carvings in the middle with his hooves as the legs.

SOOoooo I think a full mount is really, really streching my Taxi budget...

But I figure he deserves at least the pesestal treatment. My Taxi did my Buff on a pedestal mount and he came out awsome. The base of the pedestal has a door that opens where I store my hundreds of hunting magazines..

Hi Ann:

Hmmmmm so you think Jason is HOT huh....LOL Hey my wife thought so also... Hmmmm no wonder she liked the trip so much..

Hi Russ:

On this trip I used my Remington.. bone stock except for a trigger job and the break, 300 RUM. I was using Factory Ammo, 180 grain Nosler Partitons, clocked @ 3350 FPS. I took (10) head of game with this caliber, from Giraffe to Steinbock.

I shot this Waterbuck at just over 200 yards, he went less than 20 yards and piled up. I have (5) recovered bullets from the game that I took. On ALL of the recovered bullets the top part of the partition is gone, the second half acted as solid and kept on going. Weight retention was about 60%. My rifle shoots the Factory 180 & 200 grain Nosler Remington ammo (wich they don't make anymore by the way) same point of aim sub MOA @ 100 yards. So far on two Safaris I have taken 14 African Plains game with my 300 RUM, all except the Giraffe were one shot kills.

As for the Waterbuck, he is really more black than grey, the picture makes jim look lighter then he really was. I have two more pics some place, I will try and find and post. I also have pics of the bullets, I will look for them also.

Regards... Jim P.

I think if you mixed a white WB with a black WB you'ld be back at square one.

Out of curiousity, how are you having him mounted? Don't know about you, but I'd be having him done life-size. Great looking animal. Sure would like one of my own.

Jim P.,

Here's the other extreme, a white waterbuck female.

Wonder what you would get crossing a black waterbuck with a white waterbuck.......maybe a zebra-striped waterbuck .

It's doubtful it is a new species. More than likely, it is a melanistic morph of a normal colored waterbuck. Some melanistic whitetails are shot every year as well as albino animals. These colors are rare but can happen.

Treasure it as it is rare, hopefully no one will steal it.

I had a bit of worry until my 6 tusk warthog made it here to the states. Sometimes rare trophies get pilfered.

Do you have any photos of your bull?

I think it would be pretty cool to have a new species named after you. At the very least by giving them a hair sample you are helping the biologist out. Please post the pics again.

After seeing your photos, I wouldn't call him black--just a bit darker than normal. Not a whole lot darker than mine. Very nice. I'd sure like to see that 6 tusked Warthog!

Hi Guys:

A few months ago I returned form Zimbabwe from my latest Safari. I was joking around and calling it my BLACK SAFARI.

The reason being is that among the animals that I took there was a beautiful Black Sable, a very big Black Bull Giraffe, and a unusual 25 in. BLACK Waterbuck, duhhh they are supposed to be light grey.

As I was soozing this morning at about 6:00 AM EST my phone rang. It was my PH Jason from Zimbabwe. He wanted to get a hold of me for some prices on the table I was having made with the Giraffe legs.

But what he was most excited about was my black Waterbuck, he did all kind of checking around and couldn't find anybody who ever saw, never mind shot a black waterbuck. He said he was talking to a biologist and they want me to do a DNA test from the hair when I get the cape back in the states..?? He said they can tell from the DNA if it is a new strain of Waterbuck. If it is,he said they would name it after me....????

I figure I would ask the most knowledgeable African Hunters in the world.... You guys ever hear of anything like this??? Or have you ever seen or heard of a black waterbuck being taken??

I thought he was a really cool trophy and was definitely different looking.

What do you think..... If you want I will post the pictures again.

Regards.... Jim P.

Jim,

Not to steal any of your thunder, it is a gorgeous waterbuck, deserving of a FBM.... but I also have to comment on your PH: He's a hottie.

I'll see if I can find some 6 tusker photos, I had it posted here a couple years ago when I got it.

Okay, it's a nice critter and the PH is hot.

TELL US ABOUT THE RIFLE!!!

Looks like you've got a muzzle brake on it. What is the chambering? What load(s) do you use? How far was the shot on this waterbuck? Did you recover the bullet? If so, DO YOU HAVE PICTURES OF THE RECOVERED BULLET?

THE SHOOTING! THE SHOOTING! TELL US ABOUT THE SHOOTING!

Russ

Hi Russ:

Yeah I have had good luck with the Nosler Partition both in factory and handloads. My next favorite is Swift Aframes, they really hold together with weight retention for a super strong soft point. My solids are Barnes for second and third shots on Buff and Ele.

Hi Jeff:

I wouldn't mind wacking another Waterbuck on my next trip, they are really cool animals.

Hi Ann:

That's all I would have to do is start a thread for Hot PH's post here.. ....

But I think You, Kathi, and maybe Goto girl should start a thread of HOT Female African Hunters... Of course you would need some sexy pictures of you girls in the African bush.... Hmmmm now THAT would be worth viewing...

Regards... Jim P.
