As the title says I'd be interested in any first hand info anyone knows about hunting and fishing on Mauritius.

Not sure if they still have it, but there was a period between the months of November to February when the Marlin are hyper-active, that the 555 International Marlin Tournament was held.

I have fished both at Trou-aux-Biches and Black River (Le Morne), one in January and another time in February as Nov/Dec. were fully booked.

The fishing was not bad but nothing to write home about - the night life; well that's a different kettle of fish and highly recommended.

Mark, I may be wrong but I think Theirry LaBat has family there. He may know.

Mark- My brother worked there for a few years and I have fished there a bit for Marlin but I have to say without much luck. This may be a reflection on my fishing skills though!

I am off to Cape Verde in June next year which I believe has one of the highest catch rates of "granders" so hope my luck Changes.

Yes Thierry has family in Mauritius and would certainly be the man to ask!

Thanks all. I do know that Thierry knows all about Mauritius but I'm kind of looking for some little jewels of info that might come from clients that had been there. I'm already lined out with an operator but more info is always better.

Hunted last August with Vacances de Mauritius.
The hunting was excellent. Shot 33 and 34 inch mature stags. There were Rusa all over the place and they were rutting and roaring.
The hunting area is gently rolling and beautiful with views of the Ocean in the background. I hunted Two full days and shot a stag each day. My wife stayed at the resort and loved it. They also have driven brown pig hunting in the sugar cane. Stayed at the Sugar Beach Resort which was top shelf. Lots to do and the beach was amazing. The fishing is not good that time of the year. Emirates flys direct from Dubai, AF from Paris and quite a few others from Joberg. PM me any particular questions.
