That is exactly what he said.

We should just chop the tree and light it on top of the buffalo!

The video is in WMV format.

You can download it, and then converted to Quick time may be.

Dear Saeed:

Maybe its the Boy Scout in me, but that tree looked pretty rotten, and a block and tackle would have done it.

Good idea though. Did you have a second truck to load the buffalo into?

Sincerely,

Chris Bemis

When I was a kid I had a Japanese built .300 Weatherby Mark V. I think the stock was made from the wood from THAT tree!

It busted in half at the pistol grip on the third shot.

When ever I screw something up I always tell people:

There is the right way, the wrong way, and my way…

My way is the same as the wrong way except its much faster…

I think Walter could relate to this…

All of you are being horribly unfair towards Walter.

His idea was brilliant.

It was just Walter's bad luck that Saeed shot that bull next to a rotten tree. Big Grin

It COULD have worked.

Last week I saw the neatest load-up performed. Two years ago they cut the buffalo in half, slit handles in his skin and man-handled him into the truck in two pieces.

This year they slit two "straps" in his skin on each side of his anus, laid him out with his head towards the tail-gate of the truck, wrapped nylon rope through the "straps", and tied it off. They then took the hook of the winch through the rope, and began to winch him over himself. The rump came over the top, which put it at truck-bed level and it slid-in with a little bit of help from the truck tail-roller, and sucked-up tight against the cab. The head was raised so the tail-gate could be installed and we were done. During the process, the trackers just had to guide here and there. It was brilliant. Credit to PH Dean Stobbs.

We have done this many times in Zimbabwe.

This time, Walter had to have his way!
