Last week I saw the neatest load-up performed. Two years ago they cut the buffalo in half, slit handles in his skin and man-handled him into the truck in two pieces.
This year they slit two "straps" in his skin on each side of his anus, laid him out with his head towards the tail-gate of the truck, wrapped nylon rope through the "straps", and tied it off. They then took the hook of the winch through the rope, and began to winch him over himself. The rump came over the top, which put it at truck-bed level and it slid-in with a little bit of help from the truck tail-roller, and sucked-up tight against the cab. The head was raised so the tail-gate could be installed and we were done. During the process, the trackers just had to guide here and there. It was brilliant. Credit to PH Dean Stobbs.
