What do you guys do when hunting in the rain to keep water out of the barrel? I have used the platic baggie and rubber band method.

Any better/other ideas?

Electricians tape or finger cots (used to allow one to handle silicon wafers, like little condoms). Usually the tape.

I have a supply of old used foam expanding earplugs. I don't stick them in all the way and all my rifles have very deep crowns. Up to 375HH they work perfect, can be removed and reinstalled countless times and always work unlike elkectrical tape which will not stick when the barrel is frozen, or already wet. I have to find somebody with bigger ears to get some for the 458 Lott.

Electrical tape. One piece over the end of the barrel and another around the barrel to hold that one on. Works like a champ. Try shooting at a target with the tape on the barrel -- no change in point of impact. Pressure in the barrel blows the tape off well before the bullet ever gets to the end of the barrel.

I always tape my bbls with tape, usually electrical.... However in a hard rain water will ALWAYS get into the bbl from the action/breech end, no matter what type of rifle.
So be careful because in a hard rain a muzzle taped bbl can collect quite a bit of water.

If you go to a Store such as Sportsman's Warehouse, go to the Muzzleloader section and one of the companies sells miny condoms (They look and work the same way) to put over your barrel. I have also used balloons and they work pretty well, and also used electric tape and duct tape. I don't really have a preference.

Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent.

Tape the end of the barrel

I use that kind of tape used to avoid painting some surfaces when painting inner walls ... the electrical type will work aswell but might offer some more resistance to the bullet ... I proved both ways and point of impact didn´t change in none of the two cases (tested with a 7 RM and a .375 H&H my main hunting rifles)

Same procedure applied when hunting in thick bush, to avoid "anything" might enter the barrel when crawling, kneeling or making any necessary movement when stalking

Black elec. tape rain or shine. It doesn't affect the bullet path at all, tested it several times, keeps rain& debris out of the bbl. Especially handy when crawling through the bush.
