Beautiful rifle! What is the address and contract number on the barrel?
What force or guile could not subdue,
Thro' many warlike ages,
Is wrought now by a coward few,
For hireling traitor's wages.

Thom DlBeautiful rifle!
"It didn't matter that .375 H&H solids broke up far more readily than the 9.3’s, or that the .375 produced greater meat damage with no improvement in effectiveness, and all this with a significant increase in recoil."
Don Heath
On the local recoil run off, any votes for the 9.3 being a better runner?

AtkinsonI shot a lot of buffalo with the .375 while testing the 350 gr. RN and power point for Geoff at Woodleighs..He did the RN at my request but told me the PP would be better and the same length..Of course he was right, but I still like the look of the RN!! its nostalgic and it sure works and better in herd shooting as it had less penetration and more expansion than the PP, but the PP had both expansion and penetration and is the better of the two..I got the impression the 350s made the 375 the full equal of the .416 Rem with its 400 gr. bullet. The 350 PP had more penetration than any soft I had ever tried and it killed quickly in every case, and awesome bullet they are, both of them.

crbutlerThe fact that Harry Selby posted on it was reason enough to resurrect the thread, imo.
Wish I would have had an opportunity to correspond or converse with him.

I feel fortunate to have emailed with him over the final years of his life. I’ve kept them all, including his Christmas wishes.

Todd WilliamsAnd that’s a fine looking rifle Jim. Anyone that would prefer the looks of a Blaser

over those classic lines is just not right in the head.

We have had many phone calls together with Harry.
In fact, he sent me a transcript of a book he was writing.
A true gentleman of the old school.
Nothing like some of the ones we see masquerading as "professional hunters" today!

It’s been in the works at least since 2000 - even terry weiland mentioned it in his book.

Been planning this trip for over a year now. Anyone can search my profile and past posts and figure out that I started by looking at RSA and moved on to plains game in Namibia. Problem is I read far too much on this forum and now I’ve gotten a Buffalo bug. I’ve read many reports where the addiction starts and people return looking for Buff and other DG. I have decided to not wait for a return and include Buffalo in the 2010 trip. I’m still planning the location, etc.
But the reason I am starting this post is I wanted to share images of a beautiful partner I will be taking with me. Of course I will be taking my wife but this is not a picture of her. This is a series of shots of the .375 I have just acquired to comply with the minimum caliber requirement for Buffalo.
This gun was just passed on to me by a very generous man who felt a hunter should not travel on safari without a fitting firearm.
This is a Hoffman Arms barrel fitted to a Winchester M-70 action from 1938. The stock I have learned had been added later. The generous individual I made mention of owned this gun since 1984 (give or take by his memory). He has hunted Africa many times yet this gun has never made the trip.
It will in 2010!!
I did not know how to do it justice in just one image so please excuse the multiple close ups.

He was not finished with it at that time, and I have no idea what came of it eventually.

FrostbitOn a thread in American Hunting Forum about when do you start to sell off your guns I mentioned this beauty mostly just sits in the safe now.
Brought this thread back to life. 2008 original post. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Fun to reread it. Especially with the Harry Selby posts.

jkrolanYes, the Harry Selby posts were a special treat.
