No more than 28 inches.

He looks big because of his ears pointing forward.

For reference, this one I shot in May 2018 was 31.5" measured by a RW measurer.

This is an old trail cam photo of mine but this will give you an idea of a bull I will shoot with the drop of a hat.

Our PH figured he was close to 32....several others that have looked at him agreed but we'll never know sadly!

A big guy like this would certainly stand out in a herd. I have caught up on wildebeests so I would leave him to his salt block in peace …

A lion might not be as caught up as myself .. Confused Smiler

First and foremost I am not a "trophy hunter" per se however when hunting African game will seek out specific animals passing on inferior animals ( bar if we are hunting specifically for meat only )

I was lucky on this one.

He measured 30 1/2 inches and my wife as a gift to me gifted me at the time a numbered limited edition ( 100 copies only of the centenary year ) bound in Elephant leather of RW records of big game.

I am the same Alf,

Not a trophy seeker but I got luckly with that big bull and put a very rewarding stalk on him (also got dinged a trophy fee). I decided to enter him in RW, had a euro mount done as well. Killed him with a Husky 1600 9.3x62; apropos of the veld and the species.
