Another vote for 1.75-6...I sure do like 2.5 -8's too on anything. I just experience a buffal charge in Zim this July. You need the low end power and field of view much more than the magnification. You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

I have just about all of the .375 flavors... H&H, Ruger, RUM, a Weatherby in process and mine all wear scopes in the 1.75x6 or 2.5x8 range. Leica's, Leupy's and Swaro's! I have tried the 1.5x5's and they just didn't do it for me. The .375's and .416's are really versatile and allow for longer shots if properly scoped for your particular abilities. On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. Usually I'm a stickler for answering the question as asked - and you asked for suggestions on one scope. But this time I'm "coloring outside the lines" and asking why? With the option of quick disconnect rings, you can easily and quickly swap out scopes to meet specific conditions and have the perfect answer to your question. I like a Trijicon 3 X 9 for longer range general purpose (plains game) hunting, can set it on 4X or 5X for low light leopard. I like the lighted dot to focus my attention on a specific spot. But I noticed a couple of months ago when a startled pig ran towards me (< 15 yards) that even at 3X, target acquisition was impossible. The wheels started turning, and I opted for a 1 X 4 Trijicon for anticipated close shots. Perhaps open sights would be the proper answer for that type of shooting, but my eyes don't focus like they did 30 years ago! If your eyes don't have that issue, quick disconnect rings provide that as a third option in heavy cover.

I really like my Zeiss Victory 1.5-6x42. It has performed perfectly on my 416 Rigby. Go Duke!!

Just bought a S&B 1.5x6x42 Zenith with illuminated reticle for my 375H&H. Looking forward to taking the rig for a run! Cheers Stu
