Well I'm off to Botswanna to hunt ele with Johan Calitz safaris( Terry Palmer) in two weeks. I've hunted with Terry before and hopefully there will be no travel surprises. I'm travelling light with just a .470NE from Butch and a .375 H&H as a backup baboon gun. I'm not bringing the .600 OK as it just seems more fitting to hunt ele with a double. Plus Terry says he won't carry it for me! ha Ha.-Rob

Rob,
Too bad the 600 OK won't make the trip this time. Should be a great hunt, you have selected a premier outfitter for trophy elephant. Best of luck and shoot a big one. Pictures and a recap when you return.

After getting everyone all heated up with the 600, I guess those little pop-guns won't hardly bother you at all. One for the "Gipper."

Rob,

All the best, and I surely do hope that your small bores will do the job. Big Grin

Rob, good luck on safari! A trophy elephant deserves to be taken with a double in any event. Save the 600 for a cow hunt.

Robgunbuilder;

Which camp are you hunting from? I took my elephant with Terry Palmer last year from Qorokwe Camp. I've also hunted with Terry before. He is one of my favorite PH's!!! He'll make you hold out of a big one!

I know you'll have a great hunt!!! Can't wait to hear the results.

Tell Terry I'm off to Mozambique August 25th. Pass through Jo'burg on the 27th and return Sept. 14th. When do you pass through Jo'burg???

Keep us posted. Best regards, Darin Nelson

I'll be in Jo'burg on the 15th on the way to Maun. I'm really looking foreward to this trip. yes, I will hold out for a big one. It's that or nothing. In any event I also need a few small critters for the trophy room. Full mounts!-Rob

Rob best of luck. Too bad the 600 isn't making the trip but can't complain about a 470 Searcy one bit.
Please take a bunch of pictures. I need a vicarious fix until I'm sunning myself in the African sun.
