I know many of you hunted this area, thought it was a good clip.

Awesome. I hunted in that exact area in 2012. I did 21 days and experienced the conundrum that is CAR. One one hand, it IS the Garden of Eden. On the other hand, it is likely one of the top 5 most dangerous pleas on earth. When I was there, Joseph Kony of the LRA had kidnapped three (I think) Americans. The trip after me, the place blew up and became the same old shithole it turns into every few years. I would go back and track LDE there in a heartbeat. The finest hunt on this planet. Nothing like Cape or Livingstone Eland. Thanks for posting that Anton. Formerly "Nganga"

I hunted there as well and had a great/hard hunt. We left right when things went sideways with the murder of some local illegal gold miners getting the CAWA owner, Erik Mararv put in jail. Ultimately, a government official was behind the killings and he was let go. He now works on this project. Erik and Emilie are incredibly resilient people. I cannot imagine doing what they are doing. I hope it works. This is a great destination if they can somehow get the issues worked out.

Like Ross and Steve, I too have hunted here with Erik. It was a fabulous place, loaded with game. I took a great LDE, we literally hunted GFH for 15 minutes, and I saw 27 bongos. Unfortunately its no longer the same! I never felt unsafe at all, and would happily go back if the hunting was still really good - but from what I hear its nothing like it was just a few years ago.

So the CAWA project has failed? To be honest the film did portray a rather emotional vision and you need hard individuals to take on armed bandits. I am really surprised the Government has not not offered its support or intervened? ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

My info is CAWA is no longer in business. But Erik has handed over the management to African Parks who run it now, called Chinko Project. The poaching has been very bad but it seems to improve now. Not sure if there is still hunting in the savanna, but definitely some operators in the forest.

CAR was outstanding in the '80s when the French were firmly in control and Kolingba was the president, but the whole part of Africa's going backward at an alarming rate.

Erik & Emily have a vision that, if successful, will preserve a vast area and it's wildlife for future generations. I am proud that I was able to something to help them by hunting with them in 2010 & 2014. I don't believe they are out of business but am aware that their vision of creating a wildlife sanctuary is no longer compatible with hunting in the central area of their concession. I salute them for giving up the hunting income to create this sanctuary and pray that the folks who proclaim to support these endeavors will step up to the plate and help them. Alas, I believe they will continue to protest and raise funds without spending one cent where it could do some real good in areas like the Chinko Project.
