Call me OCD if you like, but I have yet to solve the problem of having my daypack sit in the bed of the cruiser eventually in amongst sundry blood and guts. I'm not squeamish; just don't like carrying a blood-soaked bag back into camp. It isn't comfortable to have it in the cab of the truck and I don't like dictating that it goes up high on the back bench, taking up what little room the trackers have. I've tried garbage bags, but they eventually get poked with poachers' wire, axes, tools, etc. Do I buy a "dry bag" like you float a river with?

Any of you gentleman (and ladies) have a novel solution?

I think you can get one of the waterproof duffels from Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc.

After one too many bloody bags, I went to a Dry Bag many years ago. These are the kind of bags used in white water rafting that have a fold down top flap and are heavy duty. Never had a problem since and the blood & guts can be rinsed, hosed or wiped off. I've been using the same one for over 15 years now, averaging one safari per year.

The Dry Bag can readily be found in military surplus and outdoor stores.

My daypack generally rides on the top of the cab in the basket there. Never had this problem.

A few companies have dry bag style day packs w/shoulder pads with either a water proof zipper or roll top (dry bag style).

Sage Brush Dry Goods, Kake, Alaska has a killer Dry Day Pack. It's most likely the only one made in USA if that matters.

Hyalite Equipment has the ChristChurch day pack.

Simms Fishing Products has two styles, one with a zip and the other with a roll top. My daughter used the roll top Simms on a fishing trip with me to Prince of Wales, AK and it was great, nothing wet, hose off nasty fish gut smell, she thought it looked "wicked cool" which was really all that mattered.

Must be more of them out there, but there are three if you're interested.

You also might give one of the many repellant sprays a try.

I always hang mine on to one of the hooks you put your guns into. Most packs have a loop handle at top.

What about a duck blind bag with a plastic base?

When hunting in the states, I stuff my pack (and spare clothing) into a Rubbermaid bin, which keeps it free from dust, water, blood, etc. and also protects anything "fragile" inside it like GPS, phone, etc.

I know it's not practical to fly a Rubbermaid across the pond, but perhaps arrangements could be made in advance. Of course, the dry bag solution should be effective too.

Sealine makes a waterproof rolltop bag. You could stick your daypack inside it I guess. Seems like a lot of work when it is easier (for me at least) to just hang the bag somewhere off the floor.

Bring some paracord, and some bungee cord and rig up your own hanging/bungee system for keeping the bag off the floor.

I like the blood stains on my Filson rucksack. Gives it character and I get the joy of having people look at me funny back at work.

I have a Army surplus shoulder bag that I just loop over the side rail pipe in the back of the truck. Easy to get to and off the floor. Has worked for years. I think my expense was $6. Carries coat, candy, water T paper, whatever I need for the days outing.
