Is it true that Famous Murphys is closed? I am looking for recommendations for a seafood restaurant, a sushi restaurant, a mexican restaurant, and a thai restaurant. I appreciate any recommendations.

It closed a couple years ago. A lot of folks go to either the Claim Jumper or Macaroni Grill for less expense, but still good food. Sterlings in the Silver Legacy is a VERY nice seafood and steak house, with a nice Sunday brunch. Rapscallions is very popular for after hours partying and get-togethers. Go to Reno.com for a full directory of all the places to try.

The Steakhouse and the Japanese/Sushi places at Harrahs are among the best in town. Will J. Parks, III

http://www.atlantiscasino.com/...-seafood-steak-house The Atlantis Steakhouse in the Atlantis Hotel connected to the Convention Center. Great food and atmosphere, but the place is extremely busy during SCI. We already made reservations for dinner there Wed-Sat. The restaurant books out quickly as the Convention approaches. Brick's Restaurant and the Steakhouse at the Tamarack Junction are both excellent. Brick's normally has a lot of game on the menu when SCI is in town. Either one is where we normally go to eat if we want to go somewhere nice. The Brasserie St. James just opened and the one meal that I've had there was very good. They also have a nice bar area and some game mounts, including a kudu on the wall. Sushi can be hit and miss in Reno but normally we go to RIM in the Grand Sierra Resort. Normally don't eat Mexican but Miguel's is pretty good according to friends who do eat a lot of Mexican Food. Bangkok Cuisine serves ok Thai Food. Pubs that you may want to consider are Foley's Irish Pub (across from the Atlantis) and Clary's (across from the Peppermill). If you're looking for some good locals bars consider the 40 Mile Saloon or Chapel Tavern. If the dive Irish Bar is your cup of tea it is hard to beat Corrigan's on South Wells across from the Rapscallion. Any more questions just ask.

Another vote for Rapscallion's. They always offer some wild game when SCI is in town too. Best regards, D. Nelson

African cuisine in Reno! Zygol Ethiopian restaurant on E. 4th Street... Most US cities have 1 or more Ethiopian places, you eat with your hands, using injera ( a tasty crepe-like bread made from millet, to pick up bites of food) If they have Tej, a honey-based wine, or Hakim Stout, so much the better. They have a website.
