Nothing is stopping Pieter and the rest of the envirofreaks from purchasing every cat tendered for hunting in Africa and moving them onto their private cat reserve. And they can freely do that for every other animal they deem cute or sad or mistreated or endangered. It's is a free market.

Yes, some lion hunts are "canned" hunts, but at least these lions live where they didn't before. On some large game ranches these "canned" hunts will eventually morph into free range hunts. It will take time, but it will happen - that is, as long as the lion can be hunted.

This character - Dr. Pieter Kat - is what's wrong with the human race. His over-bearing, supercilious and condescending tone, which is laced with arrogant over confidence and unsubstantiated comments, is the self aggrandizing personality type that led to the holocaust, world wars, terrorist attacks, slavery, and the like. This classic personality style was well-developed in Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Osama Bin Laden, and the like.

These personality types become very dangerous when they get into power positions - they know what’s best for everybody and listen to nobody. These personalities get so wrapped-up in their sanctimonious self-righteousness they'll do anything to achieve their goals - for them any necessary means justify the ends.

But, this is what we are up against. These types do not listen to reason, consider alternative facts, or change their opinions.

We must work together to counter their pernicious effect.

Maybe Ganyana will chime in and put his $0.02 in on Dr. Kat...he knows him well. The problem Dr. Kat is that he is a very intelligent human being...he is just a vehement anti-hunter and willing to cut off his nose to spite his face.

i can't believe joloburn hasn't shown up to defend the sanctimonious fool. how can he state there are only 2500 adult male lions left in Africa and they are being killed at the rate of 650/year? if that were true, they would already be dead and gone.the whole sickening thing was a VERY thinly veiled fund raiser.....but hey, never let facts get in the way of a good storyline.

I logged on & posted a reference to a new study on lion conservation in the journal "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences". This is by experts from the Imperial College of London working with experts in SA.

I would suggest that other do the same. Please avoid using emotional language and name calling. I am sure that if we just state the fact in a balanced and clinical manner, we can influence the people with open minds & they will not fall for Dr. Kat's tricks.

The already prejudiced bunny huggers are a waste of time anyway.
