After several delays and changes in my programme, I am in the US, in the beautiful little town of Appleton, WI. I shall be here until end June (though I shall be travelling on business) until my wife completes a training programme in Critical Care Nursing at UW Oshkosh. If any friends from AR wish to contact me, please do. It would be a pleasure to just meet or swap hunting experiences. Good hunting!

mehulkamdar If you do get to Jackson Hole take SBT up on his offer. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Hope you enjoy your stay. Jeff

SBT--Just curious, how long have you lived in Jackson? I lived there in '66 and liked it, but I've been back in later years and don't. It was a bit different back then. Were you there then?

If you have time and want to see Yellowstone and other western things, come see me in Cody then you can drive through the east gate to the south gate and see SBT in Jackson. You would love this trip and should really see our part of the U.S. John Kendrick

Arts, My first visit was when I drew a non-resident sheep tag back in 1972. Moved here in 1982 because of that experience and have never looked back. It has changed a lot, but still a great place to live. I'll bet it was smoething in your day!

Also just out of curiousity; is Jackson's Hole really the powder paradise it's said to be? A snowboarder and skiers heaven? Erik D. www.dunia.no

Mehul, Welcome to the US! Don't drink the water Wisconsin in March isn't my idea of vacation spot but if you're staying till June you will see quite a change. If anyone local responds, you should try to tag along on a wild turkey hunt. The springtime is beautiful in the woods and turkeys are great fun to hunt. If you ever get down around Nashville for business I'll take you out. Our season opens in April. Wisconsin's will be a bit later, probably sometime in May. Hope you have a nice stay. Dan

EricD, Yes it is, we get a lot of powder, especially on the back side of the Tetons. I don't ski, but do a lot of back country snow machining.

Mehul, On Saturday, May 22nd, we have a fish fry dinner at our place. We are about 2 hours from Appleton (on the southside of Chicago). Everyone coming to the party are veteran Africa/international sheep hunters. You and your wife are more than welcome to join us to swap hunting stories. Send me a PM for directions/time etc. Kathi kathi@wldtravel.com

Erik, The top 3 skiing locations in North America (based on quality of snow) are: Telluride, Colorado Alta, Utah Whistler, British Columbia Those are not listed in any particular order. The differences will be found in what the snow storms are like just prior to arrival rather than in any particular advantage of one over the other.

Mehulkamdar, What cities will you be visiting? It would be a pleasure to get together, but distances are far, so it would help some of us if we knew where you are planning to be. Thanks and hoping to meet you.

500grains, My favorite run in Utah is still at Snow Bird, coming off Little Cloud all the way to the base, no stops. Talk about burning quads

Mehul Come to Virginia where it all began. We've got the mountains, the ocean, history, great shooting ranges. You can stand in Virginia and look at the animals in Washington D.C. and not get any diseases. Jim

Hunting is good in NC North Carolina is a good point to live in easy run to other states to hunt and the weather is 4 seasons! If your wife is looking for a job send her our way we can always use a good "Critical Care RN" good nurses are like Jello -there is always room for another one! Happy Hunting!!

Thank you very much, friends, I have been simply overwhelmed by everyone's response here. At the moment, my travel plans have not been fixed since I have a few meetings here on the 29th and the 30th. After these meetings, I shall be fixing appointments and then travelling - a short list of destinations is Washington DC (a close friend lives there), Atlanta, Georgia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose, La Jolla and Newport Beach, California, New York City and Atlantic City, New Jersey. These are places where I have close relatives and business contacts. It would be a pleasure to meet friends from AR though I shall confess, as I always do, that I am far less experienced a hunter than 99% of the members here. I shall be in touch with friends through my e-mail ID and through AR and hope to meet as many people as I can. Thank you all very much for your very warm welcome again, and Good Hunting!

Thanks, Ann. I'm sure to enjoy myself - this is the friendliest country we have ever visited and my wife is actually enjoying herself much more than I am! Johan, I will enjoy the bikes - I have always enjoyed riding and have preferred them to cars, especially in bad weather etc As far as guns and hunting are concerned, I shall be content with watching them because I don't want to break any laws here as a foreigner. Yes, I will enjoy myself here. Thanks everyone again, and good hunting!

Mehulkamdar, if you do visit "out west", please feel free to impose, anytime. I'm just over the hill (to the West) from SBT. As far as weapons, as a non-resident, you are not allowed to purchase any, but there is no rule in this state that says you may not use one. I would strongly second that suggestion to accept any invitation to go turkey hunting. It is a true American experience. That, and see if you can finagle an invitation to go muskie fishing...... Dutch.
