I hunted South Africa in Messina area together with Jasper Coetzee Safaris in the beginning of october. We had a great hunt and the weather was quite hot, between 32 and 42 Celsius. Here are some photos, Stories will follow. We walked along a wet area as we saw this Wartie standing right in the water, we moved closer and at about 50 meters I took the shot just as he started to move, he was down directly but was kicking. So I took out my knife and walked out in the water, put my left boot on one of the tusks and stabbed him from the front. The water was instantly red and the pig was dead. This was onme of eight warthogs I shot during this hunt. That was a great Bushbock of 16 and a half inch. We wer looking for pigs with a spotlight when we saw him laying down under an orange tree, I walked towards him outside the light beam and as he got up and started walking I shot him at a distance of about 12 meters.

Very nice Christer, the eland are awesome! Nice bushbuck too. What did he measure? Is the impala your first bow kill? I am sure everyone will want to know the details of your warthog knifing. That includes me, don't spare the details.

Christer Congratulations Hope you had great time Was the warthog taken with knife? New rifle or the old 6,5? Cheers / JOHAN

Ann Yes, at least I count the Impala as my first real bow kill. The Bushbuck measured about 16,5 and it was easy to see he had been a real fighter. The warthog got a good shot but were still kicking so I had to try the "pig knife" i broughtwith me. It worked better than expected, and we have it perfectly on video (cameraman - Frederik Coqcuyt (Safari-Hunt)) Cameraman

Johan The rifle is a Varberger in 35 Whelen. Boghossian That was a great Bushbock. We wer looking for pigs with a spotlight when we saw him laying down under an orange tree, I walked towards him outside the light beam and as he got up and started walking I shot him at a distance of about 12 meters. Ok here is also the full story with the pig. We walked along a wet area as we saw him standing right in the water, we moved closer and at about 50 meters I took the shot just as he started to move, he was down directly but was kicking. Christer, Congratulations on your successful hunt and thank you for sharing those great pictures. I am looking for a bushbuck like that one and the warthog looks nice also. What loads were you using in your 35 Whelen? Could you recommend them? Good hunting, BigBullet

Quote: Eric I use it mostly with sticks etc but say 30% of the time mostly on pig hunting etc (when things are getting little speedier) I shoot freehand with it.

BigBullet There are plenty were he came from. We saw over 20 males one night and we also saw them often during daytime. Last time I took a 15 inch one. Pigs are also plentyfull (warthogs and bushpigs). If you are interested I can book you a hunt with Jasper for next year
