Very likely the only chance to save the rhino is by taking heavy-handed measures.

With commercial poaching for rhino horn and ivory, heavy-handedness should extend all the way up: To EVERYONE involved, as high as we can go, the penalty should be so stiff that being involved in the illegal trade "just ain't worth it."

If that can't be committed to, I'm afraid the rhino is done.

Can they train people to castrate the culprits. All they need to do is castrate every single Vietnamese and Chinese dealer of ivory & rhino horn. Suddenly all the myth about improved sexual prowess will be replaced with the reality of sexual dysfunction!

No one in China or Vietnam will even think about rhino horn and ivory.

The two correspondents are based in London and out of touch with Third World realities. Their sole purpose is to sell copy, and thereby advertising.
