has anyone hunted in this area? How is it for plainsgame? I can't find much info on the are on the internet so I'm hoping someone on AR has hunted there.

We want to hunt with the same PH as last time and this is the are they are hunting in. Also, we want to go for plainsgame, possibly sable.

I hunted near Gwaai River in the Sikumi Vlei in 2005 but don't know if it is the same place. May I ask where it is located and who you will be hunting with?

It is theNgamo Sikumi Forestry Area near Hwange. PH will be Tim Lamprecht.

Hunted in Ngamo Sikumi in '07. The sable and eland can be excellent there. Saw a few steinbok and if I remember one big kudu and a smattering of other game. I was only there 3 days so there may be other game I just did not see.

The area is quite flat, forested and easy walking.

Camp was pretty bad when I was there. Remember it's a government camp and Jimba has no control of maintainence.

Used to be excellent. Now they have fucked it up properlly. Belongs to govm. and no manteinance of the camp. For a rough hunt for elephant excellent. Used to be incredible for sable and eland nowadays been badly poached.

Miombo forest, which makes up the majority of Sikumi is traditionaly not a great area for grazers, there is not much palatable grass around, so the browsers ( Sable and Eland ) dominate, with a scattering of Kudu.

Generally it would not be a good area to go for a plains game hunt, there are far better areas, but it depends on your choice of species.

For Elephant, that is. The forests have always had great elephant, particularly towards the end of the season, as mentioned, but again, for plains game, it is poor.
