Ackley Improved UserHere come the details:
Outfitters - Johnny Vivier & Wiand van der Linde. Everything was perfect, these guys know what they're doing, and you get what you pay for.
Location - Kimberly, RSA, 40,000 acres/62.5 square miles, but if the hills were ironed out there'd likely be at least 100 square miles of unfettered open hunting country, all free range in RSA style.
PH - John Tinley (The best, I want him when I go back)
Tracker - John Kubai (I'm still asking myself how does he do it? - seems almost like magic!)
Photography - John T. and myself.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 21.1 megapixels, lens Canon Zoom EF 24-105 mm IS USM. I took 3000 pics.
Photos cropped by myself, but not otherwise modified by Adobe Light Room or computer programs. They look even better when they've been worked on by Light Room.
Trophies: all measured in RSA by SCI Official Measurer. Indeed, all trophies are still in RSA. I'll get them ~March 2011.
Regards, AIU

fujotupu, you are incorrect in your understanding of SCI measuring.
I am both a SCI & Rowland Ward Official Measurer.

Allow me to enlighten you:
Special Measuring Requirements
For the Record Book entries and to qualify for the Major Awards Program, trophies in the top 10 must eventually meet these requirements:
♦
A 60-day drying period
♦
Certification by a Master Measurer
♦
Cannot be self-measured or certified by a close family member.
P.S. I hold an SCI Official (Master) Measurer's Certificate.

bwanamrmExcellent trophies! Well done...

txlonghornAIU,
Great pics. I am leaving 7/10 to hunt the same area, can't wait. I plan on bringing the same Canon body and a prime 300mm L, 70-200mm L and I believe the same lens you took your pics with which is also an L lens. Anyway my question is, we are stopping off at Kruger first for a photo safari with the family, should I take all those lenses or is one or two of them superfulous. In other words, the larger tele lens are not needed the way that you cropped the pics. Also, did you shoot at the full 21 megapixels or did you downgrade to say 10 megapixels.
wonderful buffalo. Congratulations
