Check out this link. Not sure if he's really brave, or just crazy. Either way, I respect his courtesy for the animals.

Regardless of whether one agrees with the hunting method...the footage is certainly exciting!

Good hunting,

Very interesting.... I'm wondering how he sets this up with the hunter before the hunt.. as in is it a free for all, PH first, client first.. but then given some of the situations shown, I may not care if it were me standing there... Eeker

Yep, now we know, Mark Sullivan is either "Hollywood to the Hilt" or he is gay.

What I want to know is why do the buff's have blood coming out of their nostrils before MS shoots thus saving the day. Surely he wouldn't WOUND them first to provoke the charge. To wound for the sake of obtaining film footage is criminal and he (MS) should be charged....JJ

He really should not have clients on these videos since the clients are just in the way.

I guess MS is no longer PH'ing. I guess selling the tapes and book is just dandy.

Excellent footage but one day he might make a mistake and it’ll cost him dearly.

MS must have two kinds of hunts (personalities) available:

The sensationally cruel hunt that you get to follow him around and have him kill your animals, pay threes times the going rate, and sign any rights to your image away

or

The other MS who's a wonderful person, and a good PH. This one is a normal hunt where the client gets to shoot and kill his animals.

There are those here who have hunted with the latter and they are fine respected members of AR. But I haven't seen anyone own up to being in the former group.

Maybe MS is doing all the shooting because they're ration animals for the neighbors or camp?

horse

It would be interesting to see some of the former group or MS himself, post here. Maybe he's here already Eeker

The footage is great, but the music sounds like it was dubbed from a 1970's porn flick.

They say Capstick was in love with his image of being a PH. Mark has just taken it a few steps further.

The promotional video shows some good aspects of why a big bore double rifle is without the doubt the best firearm for a dangerous game charge.

Other parts of the video, or how the footage is gained .................

I would still love to be there with a rifle in hand. Mr. Sullivan wouldn't get a chance to save the day. My bolt action would be empty!

I think the majority of the nay sayers in regards to MS are a flatly jealous lot.Love him or hate him one must admire his ability to sell his product and make a better living than most PHs.
I also think MS is a shrewd enough businessman to keep you all talking about him and his products keep selling as a result.
At the very least he hasn't killed one DG animal an kept retelling the storyline to everyone like some people do. Give the devil his do, he is an accurate shot that for whatever reason performs well under pressure.

You know....I had a really long and, if I do say so, epistemologically elegant response to this idea of jealousy motivating extant critiques of Mark Sullivan. I erased it in favor of the below.

BULLSHIT !

NitroX,

I thought the videos also illustrated that a single shot like the Ruger would be no different to the bolt action.

More than anything. it demonstrates my manner and method of hunting dangerous game. Rather than shooting the great and noble beast into oblivion from a safe distance, my clients and I choose instead to walk up and give the animal a choice of how he is to die in battle.

Quote from the promotional page.

It looked to me like two of the buffalo had been shot through the chest prior to the charge. So apparently, the client had shot the animal then they approached to try to get a charge out of the animal. I gotta tell you that my hair would be standing on end if one of those big bastards got that close in a charge. He seems to be taking a really big risk for the sake of footage and in the process, endangering his client if he has one with him. But, they may have had the understanding that if the animal didn't go down right away then they would try to get a charge and up the excitement factor a few notches. Whatever your take on the video, he does have balls. I just wonder about that braclet and thumb ring bewildered.

I was not aware that anyone knew this fellow. Being from the other side of the world, this is the first time I've heard of him. I appoligize if I've disturbed a pile or two. I just thought it was a cool video, and I wouldn't want to be in that situation myself.

I have seen MS around quite a bit at Reno and DSC, spoke to him a few times, seems like nice enough guy one on one. Read his book "Death and Double Rifles" and found it entertaining reading. Has a lot of nice color pictures, especially the one of him carrying a lion over his shoulders like you see some people carrying leopards. Doubt I would hunt with him, couldn't afford it for one thing. And yeah, I did tell him he was gonna get himself killed one of these days.

You mention Mark Sullivan's name on this forum and it's like throwing chum in a catfish pond. They just can't help themselves. I will say this - you'll read 1000 "opinions" about MS for every man who has hunted with him and we all know about "opinions", don't we? Wink
Unlike you, most of those who offer those opinions just don't have what it takes to say, "Sorry, not my cup of tea!", and let it go at that. Unfortunately, some of them to resort to rumor mongering to justify their position.
But then, that's just my "opinion" Wink
