Another friend emailed me earlier today to let me know that a mutual friend of ours and long-time member of AR, Bill Quimby, is quite ill and will be going into a hospice. I know a lot of members here are familiar with all the work he did with SCI over the years. I'll try to keep everyone posted. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Crap. Bill and I have had a few nice conversations over the years and I was pleased to meet with him in Reno and chat about publishing and our mutual love for books. I first learned the his name from the Weatherby catalog (a long time ago) that showed him and his lion. He used a picture from the same roll as his avatar here. A good guy. Best to him.

Thoughts and Prayers to Bill and his family. On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. Sad to hear, we just e'mailed half dozen times a month or so ago. Thanks for letting us know. Do you have a mailing address for him? Might send a card. Sure seems like the year for dying. Known, or of at least ten so far this year. Several fairly young too. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight

Although Bill is a couple years older than me, he and I go back a long way. We have often had private discussions here and on other sites because we both shared many of the same medical issues and the medications to treat them. Ironically, we had such a discussion here only a few weeks ago, and those messages were still in my Private messaging area. The last thing I said to him in that exchange was, "Stay well, my friend." So this latest news both saddens me and also shows just how mortal we are. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Heck of a gentleman hunter. He generously allowed me to send him a book he wrote so I could get it inscribed by him. His note, in 2009, encouraged me to get out there and make my dream hunt happen. Took me 4 years, but I did make it happen, Bill. Thanks for being you! You're missed.

Yes. I hope he had a peaceful passing. Both my parents died of cancer, and once we knew there was no treatment, my only concern as I spoke to their doctors was to make them as comfortable as possible. And both passed away peacefully.
