Ex poacher Green Kabinda took on one of Zambia'a most wanted men the other evening. In the murky gloom of early morn around some dank waterhole my men fought a determined battle on behalf of Zambia's wildlife. The end result was the arrest of Sichone - described in the press as a notorious elephant poacher.

ZAWA Public Relations Officer Sakabilo Kalembwe in a statement says the suspect was found with four shot guns, 11 rounds of point 375 ammunition, and assorted game meat.
He says Sichone has been at the centre of elephant poaching in the open areas of Mushingashi, Kaindu and Lunga Luswishi game management area.

Green Kabinda consistently puts his life on the line for the protection of wildlife and now has a price on his head. His right hand man and one of my community scouts Shadrick and his wife were savagely beaten in a recent reprisal.

Like I said a few good men.

Good men all. May their Gods always smile on them.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

A job well done. My question however is it seems impossible to be able to send some support to this gentleman without it being stolen. Obviously he could do with support. Anyone have a clue how to get any there?

Pretty impressive that they put their life's at stake to help conserve our natural habitat even though that puts a price on their head. A few good men would be an understatement. Thanks for the great work.

Thanks!

Thank you Green and Andrew for your work and the danger you face trying to save Zambia's wildlife.

We got to see firsthand the work they were doing along with ZAWA while we were there on safari this summer. It was impressive to say the least, and certainly needed.

I see these two men as true conservationists, willing to put their lives on the line for the sake of wildlife. Kudos to you both.

If you would like to get them some financial support as the previous poster mentioned, I can think of no better way than to go hunting with them. My wife and I have done this twice, and we were there when ZAWA made a raid on the poachers, pushed by both Andrew and Green. Kudos to ZAWA as well!

We plan to hunt with Andrew and Green two more times at least. Royal Kafue is fantastic!

Gosh, I just reread this post after my comment, and realized Andrew's disclosure about Shadrick and his wife. We met him this summer. We are so sorry to hear about that event Andrew and Green. Please pass along our sorrow and concern.

There are some good people doing good work over there. Kudos to your team.

Too bad this isn't the kind of stuff the press writes about over here.

National Geographic should interview these good men and give them credit for their good deeds.

Well done both of you.. tu2

What if the UN did something useful for a change and supported anti-poaching financially...instead of endless futile talking..??

Thanks mate. My attending client very kindly paid the hospital bills and subsequent medical care.

I am thinking of setting up a fund that supports the families of those that have been abused and intimidated.

Green deserves a medal.

Thanks, my fear is that there will never be any of this money reach the intended. It is alleged that money collected by Mr. Rodriguez in Zimbabwe reaches only this gentleman. We do not know if this is true.

Folks like this deserve more than a little pat on the back, hard to eat that.

The guy is truly a great man.

Great thought but sadly China who is the root of the poaching will not allow that to happen.

USA out of the UN is my opinion.

The ex-poachers are the best trackers and anti-poachers. Congratulations for a successful operation.
