I am very close with my Uncle, and over the years he has given me some great opportunities and experiences. I have been looking for an appropriate gift for him for some time. That said, it was always tough to find something he would need, but didn't have, or find something he would enjoy.

A friend of mine makes custom money clips, he can do just about any animal. I have one of a woodcock, and a few friends of mine have grouse clips. Despite the crummy picture, you can tell he is extremely talented:

This past year my Uncle shot a fantastic old lion in Tanzania, and I had an idea. Here is the clip:

And a close up:

I'll be giving it to my uncle in a few weeks, I think he will love it.

I told my friend he should try a cape buff and elephant, I'd love to see what he can do with those! I'm itching to have one with a Dall Ram too.

Best,
Alex

Nice, I'd be interested in one with a Cape Buffalo on it.

Add a few hundred dollar bills to it and he will be really impressed.

Great idea - particularly if your uncle uses a money clip. He would then have a daily reminder of the great lion and of his favourite nephew! Wink

I have to disagree. Maybe a single hundred would make sense, but any more would diminish the intent and value of the clip itself, which is an excellent, thoughtful and considerate gift.

It's been my experience that most people who actually use money clips have enough money so that a few hundred dollars would be irrelevant, maybe even meaningless - and might even be considered an insult.

Hi Guys,

Here is his site, you can see all sorts of examples of his work:
http://www.pbase.com/crazyhorse/inbox

The prices vary depending on what you want, but he is extremely reasonable, figure between $200-$300.

You can email him at jtowarn@verizon.net

I'd imagine he can engrave just about anything, but you would have to ask him about belt buckles.

Great idea, I couldn't agree more. Mind sending me a few?

If you guys end up getting something, post pics, I'd love to see it.

Best,
Alex

These days, if he has the scratch to hunt lion, he probably has his own to fill the clip!

Had the opportunity to give it to my Uncle this weekend. Needless to say, he loved it! I may be biased, but I think it was a great gift that he will get years of enjoyment from.
