I think we all hear of the big game hunting in Africa in various locations being fenced in. The common fence is called a 2 meter fence being about 6.5 foot tall depending upon the proximity to the ground. I have had photos in the past of Kudu jumping an 8 foot fence showing that the 2 meter fence was an irrelevent obstical. Here is another photo showing just how high/long African antelope can jump. Lechwe are not even considered spectacular jumpers by Afrcian standards. I don't see a splash in the water from where he lifted off from. That means he must be on his way down from the far right side solid ground! That Croc likely had plenty of time to try and judge the mid air "grab" he is trying.

Wowza! A photo-shot in a million or at the very least, a great still from a video. Thanks JJ!

or a great 'photoshop' photo! Can't help but be synical at times, especially in the digital tech age. The lechwe looks out of proportion to the croc. Further, the head positioning of the croc seems off given an attack from the right. Finally, no splash from the lechwe could mean a departure from dry ground or an oversight on the par of the fabricator. If he lechwe did depart from dry ground on the right, the croc seems to have really missed the boat, so to speak. If the photo is real, great shot!

CL, this was only one of a series of photo's taken of a group of Lechwe running across. The next photo in the series shows the trailing lechwe locking up the brakes right before he jumps,... after seeing the croc. Anything is possible with digital photograpy I suppose but I think seeing what I have here that the whole series is legitimate.

Great photo! Is that in Botswana? Red lechwe? I feel all lecherous just thinking about hopping barefoot out of the mekoro dugout to sneak over to the island for a pot shot at a red lechwe ram. Not only crocs to contend with, mine had claw marks on his back and his tail had been bitten off. The Duba Plain was fascinating. The herds of red lechwe when spooked take off with a sound like Victoria Falls. More photos if you gottem, pretty please!
