Just watched an interesting television show about maneaters. The part that roused ny attention was the section about a "recent" 2000-2002 situation in Tanzania where the cats ate 60+ people before a game ranger killed the critter. I am wondering if British East Africa, and possibly German East, were safer then under the Raj than under the current regimes that confiscated personal weapons. It would seem that if local farmers, armed with even Lee-Enfields, much less sporting Mausers and Mannlichers, might not they have contributed to a safer society? I know, merely what if on a grand scale.
