New Moon Phase

Is this the best moon phase for Plains Game like it is for Whitetails in North America?

Just wondering if limited light at night increases game movement during the day in Africa like it does here.

I've hunted plains game in South and southern Africa for many years, and as an avid spearfisherman I was was always aware of the phase of the moon when hunting. Slowly the realization took place that when there is no moon the animals seem to move more in the daytime. Then I was told about some university professor in statistics who also owned a game farm. As statician he kept record of everything, including the "want" list of each hunting party and the "success" list s. He reportedly reccommends to hunt only near the New Moon phase. Since then I actually made more observations and IMHO the best time to hunt is around New Moon phase. My own personal hunting trips are now always planned to be near the New Moon period.

One can cure:

Lack of knowledge – by instruction. Lack of skills – by practice. Lack of experience – by time doing it.

One cannot cure:

Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules!

My very long ago ancestors needed and loved to eat meat. Today I still hunt!

Made similar experiences.

Game is much more on the move at night around full moon, will be less visible at day (=hunting) time.
Definitely worth considering when planning a safari.
