Lesson learnt from Saeed's Videos

Hi Fellow hunters,
I am a dreamer when it comes to African hunting. I had never thought about hunting in Africa before I joined this forum in 2000 (my former ID was deleted). Now not a day goes by when I don't dream about it.

My hunting experience is limited to the words of the senior hunters on this forum who share stories and pictures of their hunts here. Saeed's 2004 Tanzania hunt DVD's arrived here two days ago and already I have watched them twice (Thank you again Saeed).

Saying that I enjoyed the videos would be an understatement but apart from enjoyment I did learn some valuable lessons.

1) Contrary to popular belief on this forum CRF is not as important as it is potrayed here. I know Saeed was using a CRF on that hunt but the most important factor was his shooting. His first shots were always true and he never had to hurry to cycle the bolt. As a matter of fact I was surprised at how he took his time to reload after shooting cape buffaloes. In my opinion a Sako or Sauer or Remington would have sufficed.

2) Hunting Cape buffalo in a herd is the most exciting experience hunting has to offer. I was looking at the calves in the herd and dreaming that in due time they might become Dugga Boys and end up on my wall.

3) Walter needs to be commited to the nut house. He had me rolling on the floor with the witch doctor bit with Ray.

I am now a believer in 2 and 3 but this board has such an effect on my mind that tonight just before going to sleep, when I design my hunting rifles in my mind, I'd still be using Mauser actions and Turkish walnut.

What lessons did the other amatuer african hunters learn from the videos?

Harris

The #1 thing that I learned from Saeed's video is, DO NOT LOAN WALTER ANY OF YOUR UNDERWEAR.

I watched the DVDs at home by myself, and could not stop laughing at the witch doctor routine. Absolutely hilarious!

A thought: Perhaps it is not Walter who is absolutely nuts. Maybe the rest of the world?

Is the witch doc on the fourth vid? Has to be as I haven´t seen it and I can´t get the fourth one to work!

The first three were great though, and Walther is a real character.

Nut house? Hold your horses Cool Walther deserves something much much better, like Circus or a Kindergarten Big Grin

I don't think Saeed even would consider a Safari without Walther roflmao

Cheers

You have to remember that our host has taken dozens of buffalo and his deliberateness borders on professionalism.... that is.. until you see Saeed and Pierr'e levitate in the long grass in the 2003 video when a tiny blackbird transformed itself into a wounded buffalo!

clap

I'll give Saeed credit, though.. He only jumped 10 feet, I'd have come down in another country!

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.
