I'm looking at a late season two elephant bull/ buffalo hunt in NW Zim in the areas of either Ngamo Sikumi or Kazuma/ Pandamasui. I wanted to see if I could get a little feedback from folks that have hunted there recently. I know it will hot!! hot!! Is there much in the way of plainsgame if I get done early with the elephants and buff? How are the camps? How was the travel to Vic Falls? Besides the falls, any other side trips worth doing? Thanks!! Go Duke!!

Texas blue Devil It is a great hunt and Ngamo/Sikumi and kazuma have had the best averages for Zim for quite a few years. Late season is a good time to do it as bulls come from the park/ Botswana for water which IF pumped by Forrestery and you will get a good bull. Doing a double in my eyes is the way forward as you can get a good one under your belt and work on getting a monster for your second. I did the exact hunt 2 years ago in sept and shot a 55 lbs on day 2 and a 70lbs on day 7. The average for these ares seems to be getting better and better. On the down side you have to appreciate that it is a goverment run concession and as a result you must expect hick ups from them and these are to a certain degree out of your PH control. Things that can and do go wrong is that they double book the camp, dont pump water dont do fire breaks which can be a problem, run out of diesel/food. Most hunters/ operators that book these hunts for their clients add on a few a couple of hunderd $ a day on top of forrestery prices. With this extra cash they normaly make sure that their is enough diesel in camp for the cruiser and pumps, enough food wines etc and also bump up the PH salary as Forrestry PH fee is poor. Plains game is average- sable is very good. All in all though out of 7 ele bull hunts there I have averaged 60lbs- that is a very good average for anywhere in Africa- not a reflection on my capabilities but a reflection on how good the area is. So long as you have an energetic PH you will have a great hunt. My new DVD has about 40 mins dedicated to the exact hunt so you may want to watch that. Book it and enjoy it. We have 3 bulls up there this season so if Forrestry do there normal and double book we may bump into each other! Cheers Buzz

TBD, I've hunted Ngamo/Sikumi for sable/eland taking a 45" sable and 39" eland that I've posted here before. I was only there 3 days but during that time the elephant hunter in camp looked at 64 bull elephants and a previous client that same year with my PH had taken two bulls of 76x77 and 78x79. Kazuma/Panda Masuie might be even better as it is right on the Botswana border and I understand the sable are even bigger there. Vic Falls is a must see and 2-3 days there and in Hwange are well worth it if you are going to be in that area. A combo of trophy ele hunt and photo tour would be perfect in this area IMO.
