Many Thanks to everyone that has read this thread. A Special Thank You to those that voted and those that made comments, regardless of their content. INO, results were just about where I anticipated them to be,25% or less, feeling that hunters were the enemy. What can not be ascertained however is whether that means hunters really do not feel that there is a lot of divisiveness going on in our ranks, or just do not wish to openly acknowledge such. Just an observation here, but at present there are 3 or 4 threads on the pages of AR concerning both illegal hunting practices and unethical hunting practices. From my standpoint, Hunters, as a group, need to put there puritanical in some cases, over zealous in some cases, pious-self rtghteous, "Personal Ethical Standards" to the side, and first off work at helping get the actual Illegal activities stopped, by whatever means. Then work on issues where accepted legal hunting methods and conservation of a species are in conflict and legal methods need to ne revamped. Last on the list, ethics can be argued till Doomssday. As long as we are mortal beings we will never all agree on such things as whether it is unethical to shoot a sleeping lion but quite ethical to shoot one that has its head buried in a carcass, or whether a one armed person legally water swatting a duck is a major breeching of ethical standards. I appreciate everyone's input on the poll. Thank You, Randall Even the rocks don't last forever. | |||
