To all friends, my life long dream will come true in 26 days, but who's counting...I picked up a bull ele hunt I am allowed up to 60lbs of ivory...Can't afford beyond that...I begged, borrowed, but did not steal to pay for the trip...I got a super deal and leave it at that..I asked the right question at the right time...All Luck...The Ruger 458 Lott is ready and now I have to study up on ele now...I have memorized all about buf anatomy...I am still on a high..

I dream of doing what you are going to do some day. Good luck and good hunting. It will be something you will always remember. Post pics and story when you get back. AS 500gn asked, will you go for the brain shot or the chest shot?

Fellas,

I will be prepared for whatever he gives me.. If it is the heart lungs I will give him the Bridger solid right there, but I will give him what Ph tells me...
Red, I will see if I can get it posted....it is cool...

500 you forgot to quote the at the end. I was being a smart ass because I thinking one wouldnt know if he was taking a head or heartshot until the time of the stalk.

I didnt mean any offense.

Jim,

I am hunting with Ian Dodds of Hunters Africa...I will be hunting west of Harare..I take a charter plane towards Lake Kariba and hunting south of or bordering Matusadona National Park...He is a displaced Zimbabwean lost two farms to Magabe...

I have a journal to record the hunt and digital and video for posterity...

You picked a fine cartridge for elephant, I have seen several big bulls shot with that round with a 500 gr. solid at 2350 FPS with 84 grs. of IMR-4320, and it will darn near cave them in with a heart shot, and they seldom make a lot of tracks...Good luck, elephant hunting is the ultimate hunt IMO, but Buffalo sure does get my attention these days.

Best of luck, Mike. Will miss seeing you at the Afton House and sharing stories over something stiff and cool but I am sure we can compare notes when we get back. Hope you find a 70 pounder!
