Just got home, what a fabulous time we had meeting all our friends from AR. Dinner Friday nite at Javiers was out of this world(thanks Postdriver). Last nite at the AR party the room was packed and we were spilling out in the hall. Everyone had a great time and it ended too soon!!!
Someone got himself a double rifle but I am not going to say who, dont want to take his thunder from him.
Someone said wouldnt it be neat if Saeed and Walter walked in. Yes that would have made it perfect, a toast was lifted in in thanks to him.
Just like Africa I am sure we will return!

My wife and I were there also, and it was quite a good time. We didn't do the dinner Friday night, but made full use of the festivities and dinner at the Traildust on Saturday evening. Haven't heard any reports from those who went to dance the night away after dinner, but they should be interesting. It was good to see everyone, and hear the hunting stories from their recent safaris. As a result of our trip to Dallas, my wife and I are booked to go to RSA on a plains game hunt with Pierr'e in late May. More details on that later.

Even if I had not got to buy a double rifle, I would say that that has been the most fun I have had in quite a while! It was really great to meet all of the AR folks and my wife had a ball. She told me that everyone was so nice and genuine that now she understood why I spend so much time on the site! I especially want to extend a big thanks to Retreever, 450 no2, Dugaboy and a few others that were there and helped me with my purchase of an R.B. Rhodda 450/400 3" from George at Champlins. Everyone looked it over good and after Tony put his blessing on it, it was all over but the crying! They are going to have to surgically remove the smile off my face, my wife said she had'nt seen me that happy in quite a while. And buying it was her idea! She had already told me that I could buy the Scott 475 #2 on Sat. but I was wrestling with my conscience over spending that much in the same year as my first safari, but when someone traded in the Rhodda on sat, I had no more resistance, at $7500, how could I? We had a great time Sat night, Judge and Pierre regaled us with their story of the Buffalo and lion fight that they were in the midst of, exciting stuff! We all went out to the steakhouse and tipped a few and enjoyed dinner and some of us even did a little dancing, 'Ol Pierr'e cuts a pretty mean rug! To all of those I forgot to mention, I apologize! Too much happened in one day for me to absorb! Thanks again to everyone, including Mighty Joe the photographer, and most of all, to my wife who made another dream come true!! Lee.

I couldn't agree more with retreever"s comments. This is my fourth show, but my first since accuratereloading. I had no idea what I was missing. I had a great time meeting everybody. There are many great people who spend time here.

Thanks go out to all who organized, brought food, or just showed up.

All:

I just wanted to thanks everyone who I crossed paths with at DSC. My father and I had planned a long weekend, but right before we left my 16 month old son came down with the stomach flu and I had to return a day early.

However...

We spent Friday at DSC, drooling over our .577 at Butch's booth and it was GREAT to see my old friends, Rusty and NE450No2, and meet some new faces!

And the little get together in the Judge's room before dinner was a great intimate setting to get to know other AR members better - Retreever, your kielbasa ROCKS! Judge, love the stories.

Dinner at Javier's was great as was all conversations with various members.

I can't wait until next time to see everyone again!

Dougaboy,retreever,judge, others

Fri night was great, a chance to meet new people like CC and get acquainted with the old timers too--like the judge,
Retreevers sausage was great, wish he was there to process my bison last fall.
Dougaboy, appreciate the ride to Javiers, never got a chance to say bye. Fort Worth is completely different from when I lived there, except for the "mixmaster" Smilersome things never change.
Next year will bring my wife too and maybe we will tour some of my old Texas haunts after the DSC show. God to see all!

A new way to get in shape for a hunt is to walk around DSC carrying a newly acquired 10.5 pound Hollis double rifle for 2 days. Part was to show it off to new and old friends, and part was that no way was I gonna leave it in the trunk in the parking lot before I left for Houston Saturday. Thanks to Rusty and Ernest for temporary reloading dies. Next will be to load up some cases to try it out. bob

It was great meeting you fellows, and being able to put faces to the names.

The get-togethers at Javier's and Rm. 105 were cordial despite all the recent controversy, proving once again that there is more that unites us than divides us.

See you guys next year!

Postdriver, thanks for al of your efforts on the Friday night dinner planning.

CCHunter, you did a graet job on the name tags, for all of those at the Friday night dinner. It was a real help. with the user name/face connections.

I saw Pierre, Sunday morning,(about 8 hours after his big night out). He was asking every one, if they had seen the Hyena that had slept in his mouth. Eeker

I had a blast in Dallas! The Friday night dinner at Javiers that Postdriver set up was excellent, and I really enjoyed the Saturday AR party. It was really cool to hear JudgeG and Pierre tell the lion and buffalo story.

I won a copy of Christer's new video at the Friday night dinner; my girlfriend and I watched it last night and really liked it. Thanks to Christer I'm probably going to have to pay an additional non-hunter daily rate if I go to Africa in '07.

Hogkiller,

Good to hear the cabbie dug the address out of Pierre's pocket and delivered him back to Ray. The last report from my boet was he was completely broken. It was great to meet so many new faces this year and see old friends again. What a great bunch or guys and a wonderful collection of wives to go with them! Those of you who think 450 NE #2 is a hoot should spend some time talking with his wife. She is certainly an even match for him.

Thank you Saeed! Without AR I am certain this weekends events would not have happened.

Now we need to get to MightyJoe, find the film and save all of us a lot of money as I am certain we will be receiving extortion letters soon.

Ladies and gents: A big thanks from my wife and I to JudgeG, 3006 and the rest I did not mention for organizing that wonderful cocktail party.
My only regret was I didn't get around to meeting all of you. But perhaps most gratifying of all was the realization of what already knew, that we here at AR --with rare exceptions--are all good people. It's just amazing when you can actually look folks in the eye and I was pleased. Thanks again for a great time. jorge

Jeez- where to start! It was alot of fun and I am only sorry that I didn't get to meet everyone there.

Javiers was great-thanks Postdriver and thanks Judge for the pre-dinner meeting.

Saturday night- well, as I recall, was alot of fun. After dinner, several of us went to the Red River Saloon. Mighty Joe cut a rug with my wife and I thank him, somebody had to do it. Lewis 50, SBT, BuddyR and I enjoyed beer and spectating and there was alot of things to spectate!! Pierre showed the local girls a Masai dance, it may now become the rage in Dallas. BWN300MAG was making the rounds but stayed out of trouble or at least out of the local paper. The lights went out at my motel room at 3 am. Whew!!

Tony and Mac almost had me on a double rifle. Maybe next year. I'll cave in sooner or later.

Judge brought a GREAT and talented lady friend. She writes childrens's books based on African animal characters. My wife bought 3 of them for our new granddaughter.

I got to meet GeorgeS and his wonderful wife, Carol. To set the record straight, George is a nice guy, most of you don't know that!!

Oh, Mighty Joe's wife recently had foot surgery but that didn't stop Adrian from dancing on Saturday night! What a trooper!!

Retreever brought polish sausage and his wife. The two (the sausage and the wife) don't necessarily go together and I liked his wife the best. My wife said she thought Perry (PWN) was funny. I left that statement alone because I didn't know what that meant! Did anyone notice how dapper 1115 looked? Alot different than last year. Must be because he brought his wife!

SBT and I had dinner with Wendell and his wife, Ann on Sunday at Texas de Brazil. Cool place and great food. Ann is a real jewel. I don't know how Wendell did it but would like to learn his technique!

I saw Ted Nugent and his wife checking into the Marriott and was going to invite them to our AR get together there but he disappeared from the front desk by the time I got there. I did see him again at the convention though. John Sharp also attended our Saturday night meeting.

We missed Frank Martinez this year-didn't we Mighty Joe?

Anyway, we all had a good time and I am looking forward to next year. Hope more attend. I'd say there were twice as many people this year than last plus it was nice to have the ladies in attendance.

I also thank those that were able to contribute toward the room rental and those that brought something to drink.

Here's to next year!! beer

I'm already planning to be at next year's show ...... I bought a water buffalo hunt in Australia ..... thanks to Retreever's wife, my wife is also going to accompany me. Also, I upgraded my Searcy 450/400 order to his new Classic model. It'll go to Australia with me. GREAT TIME !!!

Finally home at last, but the long journey was sure worth all the experiences I had.

Need to tell also that my 10 year old son was not to happy with the gifts I brought him, maybe the colour on the shirt was not what the girls like at the moment etc but when I showed him his new shooting sticks from Long Grass his face was nothing but a big smile. Thanks for that TexasZebra!
