I have to thank the people who post on this board. Since Ive been visiting and reading all of your post Ive started to dream of Africa. The other night I was rudely shook awake by my wife because she said I was breathing strangely. I told her I was not having a medical problem,(well at least not yet) but that I was stocking a Lion, who in turn was stocking me. It must have been the video link of that Lion hunt gone bad. What sweet dreams you people have provided for me.
Thanks
Dean

DeanCascio,

I am afraid it will only gets worse after you hunt Africa.

About 4-5 months before each safari, every year, I keep dreaming I am hunting buffalo. It has become so bad, last year we were hunting them in town, between city blocks.

I told this to my PH, and he said "you're beyond any hope my friend"

Dean...

I know the feeling. I have been gone from Africa for 3 years, but try and go back at least once a year to get my African "FIX"..

I woke the other evening, with the moonlight shinning into the bedroom. On my closet, There was a coat hanger, and through my sleepy eyes, I saw a Buffalo looking me streight in the eyes.... I woke my wife and told het.... " Look, Look... can you see it looking at us" Then I stopped and realised that my African Dream was only just a dream...

I need to go back soon.

DeanCascio,

Although not from personal experience, I know the Dream Of African Hunting Syndrome very well. It is quite a dangerous syndrome, mildly contageous and carried from hunting buddy to hunting buddy, particularly in hunting camps while some adult beverages are consumed.

The good news is: There is a very effective short term cure: Go and hunt in Africa. It is short term, because a few months after returning from your safari the dreams are likely to start recurring, but in more vivid detail. The bad news is that the dreams start getting really bad when your trophies from the first hunt arrives. At this stage, when you invite your hunting buddies to come and see your trophies first hand, is when the disease is really very contageous. The further good news part is that this bad stage can be cured quite effectively by simply going to Africa again, but to be really effective you need to bring a buddy along. And so on ad nauseum!

Andrew McLaren Safaris offers to help you with your first short term cure. We will arrange a South African plains game safari for ethical fair chase hunting to your budget and requirements. That is a challenge and invitation!

DeanCascio:

You don't mention if you are doing anything beyond dreaming about Africa.

The Chinese have an expression -" The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". Without committing yourself to anything,of course, start exploring some possibilities. Just to get an idea, of course. You have a PC. Talk by email to some of the knowledgeable people in this forum. Not to commit yourself, of course. Little by little, you may find that an Africa trip is very possible. Not next year? Maybe the year after. I can personally assure you that there are many bear and moose hunts in North America that cost far more than a well organized and outfitted Cape buffalo hunt in Africa. If it's plains game you're after, you can do it for even less - and I mean "less".

Are you still sitting there? Get going, man!
