Just a quick one to say Thanks so much to Dallas Safari Club for another outstandingly well organised event! As operators we were made to feel super welcome everyday with free breakfast and free drinks which many made the most of!!

Everyday someone came around the booths to see how things were going etc. Hats off to you all and in particular Karl and Rebecca- THANKS and look forward to next year

I brought my DSC renewal notice with me, and a crisp $100 bill, to personally hand to Mr Evans. Nobody could find him....I think it's just a code name :-)

I've been a life member of DSC for several years now. I've certainly enjoyed wandering the floor, visiting the vendors and seeing old friends at AR events.

Karl and Rebecca are the best and have been kind enough to have Sandy and me as their guests in the past (and this year, too). A wee bit guilty about their hard work, this year I volunteered for some of the convention committees.

What a rewarding experience. I (hopefully) helped the exhibitors move in, pushed a coffee cart around before the doors opened to the public and was assigned a dozen booths for personal welcome and being a point of contact.

By doing so I got to know other volunteer DSC members whom I'd have never gotten to meet, began friendships with vendors all over the world and even got Sandy and Emmy (who pushed the cart with me one morning) interested in going with me to Scotland when I hunt red stags and roe deer this fall.

Getting up at 6:00 a.m. after some partying the night before hurts a bit Big Grin , but is well worth my minuscule portion of "returning the favor" to those who have been putting on the best hunting show in the world!

I'm not sure which was more fun, the volunteering or the show, but whatever.... I can't wait until next year!

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

I missed this year, but can tell you that being a small part of the conv. as a volunteer has been much more rewarding to me than just attending.

I am sure Karl will weigh in eventually . . . poor fellow is probably still catching up on his sleep. He and Rebecca helped orchestrate an amazing show. It just gets bigger and better every year. And I for one really appreciate their efforts to work out an accommodation with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to allow alcohol in the main convention hall. It is nice to be able to share a beer or two with friends. Well done Karl and Rebecca.

I will add a Thank you too.

I also can add that I have only ever heard compliments from everyone attending DSC. Both on the efforts and the complete event put on by all the DSC people and volunteers.

Thank you to all who attended, it was a fantastic (but exhausting) convention. We do not have all of the "numbers" totaled, but I know our auctions exceeded our budget by quite a lot and we had to have more day passes printed and delivered, so we are hopeful about the number of people thru the door. As soon as we have an accurate attendance total, I will post the number, I personally think it will be pretty good.
I didn't get to speak at length with many exhibitors but a couple of the artists told me it was their best show ever, one leather maker said it was the best show he has ever had anywhere, one Namibian outfitter said all of their hunts sold, same for a couple of SA outfitters, Arjun has posted on another thread of his success, and it seems that many of the North American outfitters did really well.
Once again, I was unable to really walk the convention floor and have time to visit many of the people I wanted to visit. I didn't make it to the AR room but I really hope everyone enjoyed the room, DSC believes providing this space for our friends to rest and visit one another is money well spent.
I was able to meet and visit with Mike Jines for a while and met Bill Quimby, also visited with Jorge, Judge G (takes a nice guy to come visit a convention and then let me talk him into working!)and Buzz and I'm sure others I'm forgetting...lots going on during those 6 days (two hectic days of moving exhibitors in and 4 days of show) but it is all worth it. We believe in putting our money where our mouth is and will be putting the revenue from the convention to good use in the form of grants very soon. There are lots of deserving projects in need of funding that we will be able to assist.
Beibs: I looked for you as well but was unable to locate you, but I'll still take your $100.00.

Finally, thanks for the kind comments concerning Rebecca and me; we are but two of 400 to 500 volunteers who do what we do because we believe in what DSC does and we want to provide the very best venue for our exhibitors and attendees to connect. And that we have done, see you next year.

Thanks again for your assistance and advice, Karl. I was impressed with how much the DSC show has grown since I attended it at a hotel venue several years ago.

Biebs,

I was actually introduced to the elusive Mr. Evans yesterday, of all places, at the Houston Safari Club Convention. It was a brief meeting. I got the impression he doesn't stand still very long.

Karl,

Michel Mantheakis introduced us at his booth at HSC. I know you are introduced to literally hundreds of people at these events.

And I should say, Dallas was even better this year than it has been in years past. And each of the past several years has been a hard act to follow.
