I'll be heading to the Selous in late July/August for a 16 day Ele/Buff/Hippo hunt with Alan Vincent. I'm taking a .500NE Double and a .416 Rigby Bolt-Action rifle to get the job done.
I've had this trip booked since last year and although I wanted her to join me, my wife has always been quite nervous about the idea. The turning point was meeting other ladies at the SCI convention in Reno who had accompanied their husbands to Africa and loved it. Since the convention I have barely mentioned the idea of her joining me, but today she said she would love to
Very happy indeed that my best friend who also happens to be my wife will be sharing this magical experience with me
You're both going to be very glad that she is on this trip with you. She will love it, though having her first trip in the Selous will be a little 'wilder' than some other trips. Alan is a wonderful host, so you'll be in great hands.

I was fortunate enough to get my better half to go twice but only to South Africa where they have lodges or individual cabins. She says she is done now and will not even consider going to a tented safari camp.
Excellent! Having a loved one on such an adventure will only make the trip more enjoyable. I couldn't imagine gong to Africa without Sadie.

She will have a great time, and so will you. Sue has been with me to bush camps in Mozambique and Zim, and has truly enjoyed herself, even though she does not hunt. We leave for Zim again in about five weeks.

Great! Treat her to business class if possible.Makes the trip so much more pleasant and she'll feel so valued.Lynn has traveled with me on all but 2 major hunts intelligently skipping Kyrgyzstan and not wanting to be the only gal on a 3 guy trip to Moza and Zim in the heat of November. She has loved the culture and adventure and experienced what too few women do.Save a few days for a non hunting experience......Vic Falls,Zanzibar, the Crater or Mount K. In a fine Lodge. Or?? Don't mention my having to shoot a desert mulie buck off her back as it raked and gored her,or the Salt water croc that came quite close to taking her,or the train collision ,or the puff adder.........these are the stories she never tires of telling, with a big smile. A word of caution: One should rescind instantly any invitation that is only accepted half-heartedly. I believe it was the great Confucius who said that, and he was quite right.
