Hello folks,

My daughter is busy with a school project and she needs your help.

If you were to do a Google search looking for an African hunt - what words would you type into the search field?

Examples I can think of could be:

“African hunting safari”

or

“Pricing for an African hunt”

Please help me/her with search terms you would use because it might help her with her project. You can reply here or do so privately - whichever suits you better.

Thanks in advance!

Just did both, and got basically the same information.

Sir, a lot depends on which search engine you are using. What is the project, hunting or pricing?

Sir, I used the examples as possible search terms that came to mind. Some hunters might be looking for a hunt based on price and some might just be looking for a hunt.

The project is: what are some of the search terms that the general hunting public could use when they’re looking for an African hunt online through the google search engine.

It’s an online marketing project.

Many thanks,

Regards,

I’m aware of that Saeed thank you. Hence the question: what other search terms folks would use.

I would say a lot of guys would use the main animal they want to hunt as a search. Like hunting kudu or Nyla buff and so on.

Safari hunting Africa , Plains game hunting in Africa.

Some may do a search by area also.

What is the focus of the research besides african hunting safaris?

Is it pricing? a specific species?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Don’t use the term “Africa” in your formulations. Rather, use specific country names.

The focus of this particular research is to determine how to improve ranking of a website through something she calls “SEO” and specifically through using of keywords. She chose to use my website for her project for some inexplicable reason Confused

SEO means search engine optimization

Apparently what she is trying to do is research on how do I get X website to come up higher in the search.

There is a whole science behind it, use of tags, payment, hosting site propagating info about your site. It is more complicated than just key word searches.

What she could do is call your hosting provider ask them "How do we increase traffic to our site?" and then listen to the sales pitch about all the options. That might given here some good background.

You can use Google AdWords to boost page displays based on keyword. You’ll be competing with $$$ against other pages using similar keywords.

But one of the most effective ways to boost SEO results is to constantly add new pages (think blogs), especially with “click to buy” links, which links to a page where you can buy a product from someone else (you get a small piece of the sale).

See here:

What to Wear on Your African Safari

Choosing clothes for your African Safari (link to page offering deals), is a relatively simple affair. Choose lightweight pants (links to the pants on Orvis), and shirts (links to shirts at Filson), and a brimmed hat (links to Outdoor research). Some travelers like high top hiking boots (links to Hi-Tec) for scrambling about the country, others prefer lightweight trainers (link to new balance shoes in a discount site)...

You get the point. I have done this for my work. A “trick” (i hate it when I see that) is to use a common phrase (like the title of my fake article above) as the title or somewhere in the article. You are trying to guess what people are searching for, present them with info that’s a close match, and if you can, monetize the transaction via click-throughs to merchants. Steve Robinson at ShakariConnection has a great site with awesome info, and also has some monetized click-throughs.

We did an AdWords trial for two weeks at my old company. We spent 15K. It was an utter failure.

I do exactly the same as Shoulderman suggests. I think it is good to say the type of hunt (dangerous game, plains game,) and the country/province. (South Africa, Limpopo province)

Good luck on your project.

If I am searching for anything on Google, I avoid the first page at least, as I know they are paid adverts.

Go to the other pages and look around.

It has become rather annoy with all the bloody adverts!

If she is searching for an "African hunt" then she is searching for operators offering hunting packages via the Internet. Best source of a listing of hunting operators is through the professional hunting organizations within each country. They list their members. A general search as stated above will net all others who are not members.

Of course some operators do not used websites or social media to advertise their hunting operations, so these will be missed you/her search.
