Thank you to the ladies from Mystique event centre for an outstanding event and all the hard work.

Again the Ball was a great success with over 170 hunters/ guides and their wives. We had John Boretsky from SCI as our honored guest ( thank you again John and SCI for the cash donation towards ZPHGA ) we managed to raise enough funds to again send one of our representatives to the Dallas show and the SCI show in Las Vegas which is very important as she can answer questions on legal operators, hunters an guides as well as various rules and regulations currently in place in Zimbabwe. Thank you to George Pangetti ( the Chairman of the board of Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority and Power Mpunga ( head of hunting ), your presence was appreciated.

Book only with members of SOAZ and ZPHGA, our members will look after you, for a list of ZPHGA members please contact me on email, martin@bulembisafaris.co.zw

For any donations towards ZPHGA however small ( or big ) please feel free to contact me, every little bit counts to making Zimbabwe what we all know it to be, the premier destination for your African safari.
Remember we would like you to join our association as ' associate members ' for a fee of $ 50/ annum you could be one of us.

Congratulations to Dalton and Candy!

Their's are the only two names that I know. I see that Guav beat Pierre out for best sable, it must have been a monster.

Congratulations to all, but especially to my good friend Thierry Labat. Your achievements are a credit to Zimbabwe, Zambezi Hunters and hunting in general, but most of all they are a credit to you my friend. The years of dedication are paying off now.

I won't tell anyone I told them so. Smiler

Well I guess you gave me a decent recommendation, Will.

Wow, pretty impressive honor with the numerous fantastic PH's in Zim.

Heck, I might be able to hunt with Thierry again in about 2025!

Will - As you know, I hunted with Thierry in the CAR a few years ago. He really is a good PH, and a really nice/fun guy to hunt with.

Congrats to all the winners!!!!

Martin, whatever happened to Nixon Dzingai's 100 pound elephant bull? I heard he entered it and who wouldn't? I was expecting to hear that bull announced as the winner...And didn't one of his clients also take a 48 inch buffalo? Didn't he enter???? A couple of these results actually came as a surprise to me, I thought Nixon was a clear winner in ele bull/buff categories...

Cheers, David

Hi David

There are certain criteria for entries and apparently Nixon never took these into consideration. There is a panel that assesses the entries and deliberates, I am not sure Nixon even entered trophies.

Nixon entered the elephant and buffalo but did not included the required photos. The elephant was 101 lbs which made his elephant average this year 71 lbs.

The ' skippy' award is given out each year to a PH that has ' in a funny way ' had something hilarious happen to him in the field whether it was his doing or not! examples of the ' skippy ' award are as follows:

2009
Winner: Chris ' skippy' Burton
For being ' mauled ' by a wounded genet cat whilst in the field.

2010
Winner: Ross Johnston
For managing to successfully sneak up on a ' dead ' hippo, getting his client to ' brain' it and then finding out it was a cow that had been dead for 2 days.

2011
Winner: Louis Muller
For leaving his weapon under the bait tree overnight whilst hunting lion ( probably hoping the cat would shoot itself ) and then on the follow up of the wounded lion , managing to point out a shoot ' dead' a tree.

This is great. I wish we could have a post/book of PH follies. We all mess up, but we also think many PHs are infallible. I don't want to see some of the stuff that has caused so much tension on AR, but some of the above. I think a lot of the PHs that post here are modest enough to write about funny stories. Heck, even stories about anonymous clients.
