A tame buffalo killed his owner this morning. It happened close to Polokwane. The farmer was busy moving waterpipes in the camp where the buffalo was kept. Nobody knows what happened, farmworkers heard his screams and went to his rescue. A neighbour tried to resucitate him but he died at the scene. The buffalo was later shot. It is a very tragic event that took place, but again it was proven that you cannot domesticate a wild animal. Life is how you spend the time between hunting trips. Please give us more details as they become available. We seldom get to choose But I've seen them go both ways And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory Than to slowly rot away!

Koos Kemp, 47, died on Saturday morning at his farm Spitskop in the Mara region between Polokwane and Makhado. Steven Fick, a friend and neighbour, said on Monday the buffalo had been hand-raised by Kemp. "I often watched Koos feed the buffalo and saw how the animal listened to him." Kemp was moving sprinklers in the buffalo's camp on the farm shortly after 06:00 on Saturday when the animal attacked him. "Nobody knows what happened and why the animal reacted like that," said Fick. "Koos started shouting, and some of the farmworkers rushed to his aid. One of the horns had gored him in the groin. He lost a lot of blood," Fick said. Fick said he tried to resuscitate Kemp. "But we couldn't do a thing and he died on the spot." The buffalo was later put down.
