https://www.facebook.com/photo...1713848516582&type=1 I saw this today & was wondering if it is worth sharing. I would appreciate comments from those who know more about such things. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

I would bet that it goes 150+. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. Pictures are deceiving but judging from the two shown the tusks are from two different animals. Look at the blunt tip of the one on the ground compared to the one held by the man. As I say it may well just be the photograph but they certainly look like different ones to me,in any case HUGE. And a very Merry Christmas to all on this most Holy of mornings. you are correct that the do look different in the photos but I wounder if that might have something to do with the angle and background. I do notice that the guy holding the tusk appears in both photos. If you look at the FB album that this photo is from you will see dozens of equally inpressive tusks. Take a look here. Remember the legendary Ahmed of Marsabit whose ivory was estimated at around 170lbs? When he died his tusks tipped the scales at under 150lbs per side; though a bit of a let down, they were still a dandy pair of tusks. For a tusk to be heavy the girth at the lip needs to carry forward as much of its entire length - the weight will fall drastically when it tapers. The collection illustrated on FB depict the heyday of elephant hunting.
