Texas Blue DevilI have a work trip to Cape Town....hmmm Nyala
I have a work trip to Cape Town during April. I haven't been given the exact dates, but probably during the first week.
I was thinking of doing a plains game hunt after the meeting. I'd really like to get Nyala and maybe a bushbuck.
I have never been to South Africa, and haven't talked with many Eastern Cape outfits. However at Dallas last year, I did chat with Blaauwkrantz and eZulu. As I recall, both of these outfits seemed really nice.
Can anyone give feedback on either of these two operations. Also if anyone has other suggestions, I'm all ears. I'm just starting the process, and need to do something fairly quick.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys and gals can provide.

ChrisTroskieTBD,
If you're going to be in Cape Town there's no reason why you should fly up to the Eastern Cape for a Nyala hunt after your business trip.
Why not rather hunt Nyala where they really come from i.e. Natal?
I doubt that there will be much of a difference (if any) in internal flight cost and nothing beats hunting an animal in its natural habitat.
PM on its way to you.

L. David KeithHunt Natal. Outstanding Nyala and Bushbuck in the same area. I've hunted them all over and hands down Natal is the Nyala's living room.

tim416I visited with Blaauwkrantz several years ago while I was hunting in the Karoo. Beautiful facility and nice people.
I am not familiar with eZulu.
I am going to second the motion of heading into Northern Natal province. It will put you in an area where both species you mentioned are in relative abundance.

Texas Blue DevilI've always heard that Natal had great Nyala. I'm going to that a look. Are there any other species with above average trophy quality or unique to Natal?

Red Duiker and Nyala are the two that must be taken if hunting KZN.
I didn't take a red duiker and I kick myself every time I think about it! I did get my nyala though.
Go to the right place and you'll see 20-40 nyala every day, if not more. Plus, red duiker and bushbuck inhabit the same country as nyala.
When you're done with those, don't overlook a common reedbuck.

Russ GouldCome hunt the "Nyala Factory" ... where as Graybird said, you will also find Red Duiker and the usual suspects.
