Geeez I thought caged lions are supposed to be defenseless, tame and non-aggressive. Wink

Shoot the man; the lion was only doing what lions do.

I never have any sympathy for people who take liberties with grown predators. They say that "familiarity breeds contempt", but I think it also breeds false confidence and foolishness.

This is the part where some antigun suddenly wish somebody would bring a gun.(Karma) Suddenly the lion, we can call George the Friendly, isn´t a cute animal with human Disney nature with feelings and mutual compassion towards others..

I once raised a pair of lion cubs. Two older adults had been traded for them and they were to be released in a section of a (national) park for game viewing. Open, no fences except the ultimate perimeter fence. Apart from scenarios like that I don't enjoy penned wildlife.

I don't know what it was that the Adamsons or Norman Carr had, but I didn't have it. I was with these guys 24/7 when they were small, and they were habituated, but they were still wild animals, not cuddly toys. "Lion" and "bad hair day" should not be strung together in the same sentence.

It took some time after this video first hit the internet for the story to catch up. My first comment when I saw it was "Don't run!", but then again the camera angle was very narrow, and I don't know either what his full options were, or what would have happened had he not run.

He seemed to be playing possum, which was a good move if help was at hand. One account I have read said the lion was destroyed, which would be a pity since it was just following the job description.

The guy is apparently recovering in hospital.

Over 40 years ago, the lions at the Dubai zoo had a female cup.

It was rejected by its mother, so the zoo keepers took in.

Some of you who have been here for a few years might remember my friend Horst and his wife Anna Mari. They went on safari with us many times.

They did not hunt, but enjoyed being out in the bush, chasing both elephant and buffalo.

The baby lion cub took a liking to me, and I went over to their house every evening to play with it.

We named her Mona.

She would suck on my thump as long as I let her, and she never bit me.

She grew up quite fast, and I used to get scratches all over and torn clothes.

I went out of the country for a few months, and when I got back I went over to their house.

I asked where Mona was, and I was told she was out back in her own room, and only Horst goes in there, as she is quite big.

I asked if I could go see her, and Anna Mari said I can, but I have to be careful.

I went and looked at her through the window.

Then I decided to go in.

I opened the door slowly, and walked in, closing it behind me.

Mona was lying down, she moved onto her four legs, as if to jump, and before I could think of anything, she was on top of me.

Luckily I had the wall behind, so did not fall.

She he her front paws on on my shoulders, and was licking my face like mad!

I stayed quite a while with her, and our friendship was renewed without any hassle at all.

The funny thing was only Horst and me could play with her.

She never gave us any trouble whatsoever, she died an old lady.

Saeed, she clearly sampled your flavor, and luckily you didn't taste good enough to eat. Wink
