darksideWorld Cup vs. Hunting
Had planned on going to northern Namibia the first couple weeks of June next year. World Cup Soccer starts around the 11th of June?? and runs for a month in several venues throughout South Africa. I'd guess travel in and around JoBerg could be a nightmare and getting tickets and hotels could be interesting. Would it be better to go earlier in mid May or later in July? Flying via Germany or UK would mean not having to go to JoBerg from Atlanta. Any thoughts from you seasoned African travelers? Thanks
YES I have contacted a few travel agents but got limited response.

pinotguyIf your heading to Namibia, I'd try and by-pass RSA completely, even if the World Cup wasn't taking place. I'm looking at either Namibia or RSA next year as well and have decided to go AFTER the WC is finished. Delta flies from ATL to Capetown which would be my preferred route if I absolutely had to route through RSA.

MARK H. YOUNGI wouldn't change my plans at all. As you suggested just fly through Europe and onto Windhoek. Simple!

L. David KeithThat's exactly why we're headed to Zim in early May next year. I've got a number of World Cup clients who want to do photo safari's after their games and I'd suggest booking anything early. If you want to miss the snafu, go after the games are finished. They are being held in different Provinces. I suspect we'll see rather high airfare; supply and demand.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
