Thank you to our host Saeed for bullet pictures and Just a Hunter for thread on Swift A-Frames. Here is a photo to get the North Fork thread going. 450 grain .458 caliber North Fork bonded soft pont fired from 450 Dakota at 2,550 fps into buffalo and 400 grain North Fork at 2,750 fps. The 450 grain was recovered after passing through near side rib about half way back and passing through opposite (off side) leg under hide. 400 grain was similar angle and recovered inside opposite leg bone. I dont think there is another 400 grain .458 caliber bullet that could have done that in the world. Andy

It's not hard to understand why so many were disappointed when they went out of business.....and why so many are delighted to see them back /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." We should hope Norma would pick the North Fork up for their "PH" line, making this fantastic bullet available for all those who don't reload. J B de Runz Be careful when blindly following the masses ... generally the "m" is silent

I shot my Waterbuck with a 225 NF out of my 338 RUM on my recent hunt with Mike Kibble in Namibia. Total pass through on a side on lung shot.......bull ran about 100 yards and dropped dead. He was built like a Mack truck through the chest. Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!! Blair.

I have a big problem with Northfork bullets, they are just too consistant, so there is little to discuss..I have a bunch of recovered bullets from game and I can't tell them apart, they all look like the above pictures!! Is North Fork back in business? Hooray! I have a 450 grain solid recovered from a buffalo. It entered in the rear and was found in the front shoulder. Looks like it was never fired except for a very slight dishing in the front and the rifling marks. Indy Life is short. Hunt hard.

Indy, Was this a cup point or FN solid? If you need someone to post picture I can do so. Andy

Andy, North Fork .423/380-grain softpoint fired from a 404 Jeffery at 2529 fps MV, impacted bison chest at 80 yards, broke a rib going in and made a large entrance wound that spewed blood as the bison staggered a few steps and died. One shot. It was found under the hide of the offside chest. IIRC, it was about 95% weight retention and about 200% of original diameter. Will have to check records. See photos in next post(s).
