I have hunted in Namibia a couple of times and it took a very long time for my trophies to ship, but I had heard that trophies from Tanzania ship much faster.

How long should it take for them to ship? I hunted there in October of 2006, when should I expect them?

technically , while many outfitters will use all kinds of excuses, paperwork , dip and pack processing etc etc ... there should be no reason why trophies shouldnt be able to leave whithin three months of the end of the hunt ...

the reality is that most outfitters wait till a quiet patch or the end of the season and then get onto the shipping aspects of the business ...

most depenjds on the outfitter them selves , troiphies are dry enough to ship whithin a month , but banking, export documentation and paperwork can take up to six weeks to two months ontop of that ..

My trophies from Tanzania arrived in Houston only three (3) weeks after I got home. That must be a record of some type, but it's certainly a credit to the outfitter. I've also waited 6-9 months for shipments from Botswana.

My came yesterday from RSA...Hunted in August making it about 6 months...

In most cases the outfitter does not send out the trophies it is the taxidermist. The outfitters paperwork should be complete at the end of the hunt. He hands in copies of his paperwork and the trophies to the taxidermist, who must take care of the rest. It all depends how busy the taxidermist is. I only use Andre van Rooyen taxidernists and most trophies are shipped out in 3 to 6 months.

Depending on where you hunt in Namibia, it can take quite a while, especially if you're hunting North of the "Red Line" (veterinary quarantine fence).

As Ivan said, 3 months should be about right IMO. There are many reasons that may delay shipment. Theoretically, i would wait at least 1 month to ensure that trophies are totally dry (Forrest, 3 weeks seems very quick IMHO and i would have concerns whether the trophies were dry enough) before initiating shipping procedures.

SDHall, your trophies should have left by now. October is generally the last busy month for most outfitters in TZ. That should allow them to focus on exporting season trophies from previous safaris in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb. Did your trophies include a leopard? Getting CITES export certificates for Leopards is often a cause of delay. If not, then they should have sent your trophies by now.

I hunted Namibia in April last year and my trophies were delivered to the shipping agent 1 week after I left with all documentation. I still haven't received them as we speak. They have been en route for over 2 months. I wonder in what condition I'll get them in

My Namibia shipment took a little over a month, which was really confusing because they got here just after my Zim trophies from the year before. When I got the second call from the importer right after I received my Zim stuff I was sure it was a mistake.

CHIT - I'm waiting for 2 years now for my ele from zim. between the govt. jumbo, and taxidermy unlimited it's getting to the point I don't know who to call anymore

Mine took about six months from Namibia.

For those of you who hunt RSA, Louie's daughter from the Afton House has a dip and pack service that promises pick up from the concession, processing and shipment (delivery) to the US in 99 days.

Forrest, there must have been a mistake. Are you sure they are your trophies? Did they look bigger than you remember when they arrived?

I didn't shoot a leopard, only buffalo, implala, zebra, and hartebeest. The outfitter is shipping the trophies from Tanzania. I will call them again to find out the status. I just wanted to see if I was being reasonable in expecting them to have shipped by now.
