Is this the only exposure young people are likely to get to big game hunting?

Cabelas Big Game - Youtube Clip

Pretty sad really. The original Big Game Hunter game was just an arcade animal shooting game - pretty harmless. This one has tried to offer a 'greater' experience and lets the safari industry down badly IMO.

You be the judge...

This is why my son (15 months old) already has a Ruger 10/22, but will never own a video game.

That is a terrible portrayal of hunting. It looks like something the antis would put out to hurt hunting.

I'm shocked that Cabelas would place their name on something that shows hunting in such a bad light. Shameful.

I'm not shocked.
Everything for buck. Cabel ass is no different apparently. Shame on them.

Every day we have thousands (tens of thousands? more?)of kids watching/playing video games similar to this only it involves shooting people. And we wonder why they turn into whack jobs that shoot up schools, malls, theaters, etc.

Disgusting. On the other hand I've seen similar on many TV hunting shows. This "game" will sell big in America.

I really don't see the problem with that, there are war games that does not have anything to do with what real war is about it is just to sell an to entertain, when I was younger I played the cabelas games just for fun, but i never believed that hunting was as it was portrayed in the game.

I'm not worried(not too much anyway) about young hunters playing that game. I am very worried about non-hunters seeing that game and taking a negative long tern view of hunting.

A game that shows hunters "blastin shit" and racking up points really bothers me. The fact that it is put out by the leading outdoor retailer really bothers me.

Cabelas has been my go-to place all my life. I am going to write to Cabelas detailing my concerns. Unless I get a satisfactory response I will take my business elsewhere.

Firstly it will not have been put out by cabelas. An agency brokered licensing deal probably let the creators use the name with little or no input by cabelas themselves. That being said if I were them I wouldn't be too keen.

Of course I struggle to argue with a hunt that allows me to shoot vultures, warthogs and water buffalo in a few minutes...

From a video game standpoint, it seems entertaining enough. About the only African lion I would get to shoot.

My peeve with the game, calling a Cape buffalo a water buffalo.

With the idiocy shown, maybe we deserve to lose our sport. Sheesh!
