MsichanaRhino... the gentle giant?
"...The absolute highlight at Ongava is the reserve's rhinos, which are very relaxed around people, and allow for fabulously close encounters on foot - there probably isn't anywhere else in Africa where these gentle giants are so unafraid of humans in the wild, and where one is able to approach so close on foot...

BwannaAsk all the people who've been mauled or killed by the "gentle" elephant that allow humans to get "fabulously close" for on foot encounters. I know when I've been "fabulously close" to elephant, I have the .458 Lott at the ready.

Excellent read.
Often heard the same about elephants. They have good days, and bad days. If you happen to be around on a bad day, you get leaned on, stepped on, or otherwise squashed, as a minor annoyance.
Funny, but a friend had a 1000 pound cow that was a real pain. Broke through the fence, tried to run him down, and butt him. To get him back in the pen required barricades and a truck.
And, it only weighed 1000 pounds, not 8-12 thousand.
