I'm going to take my favorite PH out to dinner in Reno. Any suggestions as to locations? In Dallas I loved both Pappadoux's and Texas De Brazil. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

Famous Murphy's is another good place ...mainly steaks but also some seafood. It's halfway between the Peppermill and The Atlantis. You'll see people you recognize in there every time you go during SCI. Reservations are a must. Rich Elliott Rich Elliott Ethiopian Rift Valley Safaris

Johny's Ristorante, out on 4245 West 4th Street. It's about 10 minutes from downtown, and is really good. Local hangout and real-world Italian food. Excellent bruschetta to visit over a glass of wine.

Seloushunter A second vote for the Italian restaurant in the Atlantis. Excellent! Scott The steakhouse in the Silver Legacy is excellent as well as the steakhouse in the Atlantis. The best prime rib I've ever had. Mark MARK H. + 1 for Ruby River. Great ribeyes and prime rib. Get there early! For a different change of pace the sushi bar at the Atlantis is also very good. And its all you can eat.

That's where we're staying. Thanks for the heads up. Are you going this year Mike? "...Africa. I love it, and there is no reason for me to explore why. She affects some people that way, and those who feel as I do need no explanation." from The Last Safari

As far as Reno restaurants go my favorite is Brick's and they normally have plenty of game on the menu during the convention as well as their regular menu. The Eldorado and Silver Legacy restaurants do a good job as does Harrah's steakhouse. For Italian another place to consider is La Vecchia, about midway between the convention center and the Peppermill. If you're looking for a more casual place with a good atmosphere Foley's Irish Pub across from the Atlantis and convention center is a good choice for either lunch or dinner. Finally, downtown there is a place called Beaujolais Bistro which has excellent food although there lunch servers have become a bit spotty compared to what they were, haven't had dinner there in a while but overall excellent food.

Jaglav, Have any thoughts about the 4th Street Bisto? I saw online that one service had it rated as their favorite in Reno. I'm looking for a really nice restaurant that my wife might enjoy when there with me.

For those looking for Italian try Luciano's and Portofino's. Both excellent. Harrah's steak house is always a good choice. "A long life, and the good sense to live it." ...Quintis Arrius 375H&H,404J,416DAK,458AFR,416RIG,450RIG,505GIB Avatar: Gregory Peck & Susan Hayward in Africa NRA member

My tastes are pretty basic and I expect good value. Thus I like the buffets, especially the Peppermill, if your wife isn't offended by that kind of venue. Opt for the prime rib and variety of desserts. The retro bars at the Peppermill are fun too and the breakfasts in the coffee shop are killer.
